We've just recieved some new screenshots and artwork for the upcoming Shogun 2: Total War.
In this first image, Takeda foot samuari clash with Chosokabe mounted samurai. A new physics engine has been developed to more realistically model horses crashing into foot soldiers.
Here is another look at a battle between Chosokabe and Takeda samurai in a night time battle.
Spectacular blossoms of the cherry trees in the background emulate the quick and brutal deaths the ashigaru and samurai forces are about to endure.
One-eyed Date Masamune was reported to have cared so much for his troops that he purchased their armor from his own personal funds. Perhaps his most famous victory was in defeating an army of 30,000 men using only 7,000 of his own.
Oda Nobunaga was the first leader during the Sengoku-jidai who was capable of unifying Japan. He is also well known for his early adoption of gunpowder muskets and his prosecution of Japan's warrior monks.
Takeda Shingen was a great strategist with a loyal core of 24 warriors. However, with his many victories he amassed a great number of enemies, too.
Some early concept art of a castle on fire. Shogun 2: Total War boasts sieges will offer a new experience for gamers. Castles will now have multiple walls and mutiple levels to break through before a siege may be considered successful. The AI has been reworked to offer more resistance using these new mechanics, and the difficulty of taking a castle will also depend in part on where they are located and how well staffed they are.
