For those of us of a (ahem) slightly more advanced age, mention chariots racing and we immediately think of Ben Hur, the classic sand and sandals, cast of thousands movie from way back in 1959. In fact, such is the fame of the movie that even mere youngsters have heard of it. One of the iconic moments of the film is, of course, the chariot race. Last year Slitherine released a PC game of Roman chariot races and now it gets the Matrix discount treatment.

Dudley Walker "Mush" Morton was a dynamic, utterly fearless, yet personable submarine skipper and a natural born leader of fighting men. The nickname of “Mush” was short for “Mush-mouth”, a name he picked up in college because of his decided southern drawl way of talk. Described as a "happy warrior" who exuded happiness, good humor and joy whenever entering into combat. His infectious, positive "can-do" outlook was electric and never failed to fire up his crew. Although prone to take great chances while playing against long odds, he continued winning big against the Japanese and single headedly raised the morale with the entire US Submarine Force with the tales of USS WAHOO's mostly successful five war patrols over ten months.

Last May, at their annual press conference, Slitherine/Matrix/Ageod (guess we should be adding Shenandoah to that now as well) gave us a preview of an American Civil War game called Brother Against Brother. Like World War 2 it seems that the wargaming community just can’t stop refighting the Civil War, so this will be of interest to a lot of people out there. It's time to break out the ritual cutlery again since the bloodthirsty game developers at Paradox Interactive have released a whole new expansion for their critically acclaimed title Europa Universalis IV that's sure to steal a heart or two. “El Dorado,” as the DLC's name suggests, is an expansion that greatly bolsters the experience and detail of the indigenous nations of North and South America as well as increasing the level of interaction for colonial powers looking to plunder the silver and gold rich hills of the New World. Building upon their previous expansions that significantly changed the entire dynamic of colonialization in EUIV through their Colonial Nation mechanic, Paradox has now given the native counterparts something of a unique experience as well.
