Back in the depths of November 2014 Slitherine released a new fantasy game – Hell – developed by Hunted Cow using Slitherine’s Battle Academy 2 engine; the one also used in Slitherine’s successful Pike and Shot game. As with the latter Hell now moves to the iPad platform.

I sometimes wonder whether, as a site whose readership whilst definitely at the “grognards” end of the scale is also pretty diverse, whether we pay enough attention to RTS games. Well at the start of the year Chain of Command from BitBunch popped up on the radar and we carried a press release of theirs to bring them to the attention of our community. Paradox Interactive’s Europa Universalis series has been an ongoing success for a number of years now, and the latest incarnation, Europa Universalis IV, has spawned a series of expansions that increased the scope of the game dramatically. To date there have been three expansions, and now we are on the brink of the fourth.

In August 2014, a century on from the real war, Ageod released To End All Wars, their strategic game of the whole of World War 1. Now a whole war on the scale of WW1 is a rather daunting affair to say the least and it looks like the folks over at Ageod have realised that this may be a barrier to some when considering the game. Their response has been to create a number of smaller scale scenarios of various parts of the war and release these as an expansion pack.
