Elefants trumpet in Russia - Battle of Kursk, the first expansion for Battle Academy 2, is available now!

Last year Slitherine released the updated v2 of their popular Battle Academy game – unsurprisingly called Battle Academy 2. Whilst the campaigns provided ran from the start of the German invasion through to Operation Bagration the game had one rather obvious gap, the Battle of Kursk, and now this is to be closed, just like the Kursk salient was back in ’43.

We were pretty impressed with the developments in BA2 over the original game – read about it here – and the addition of a whole new campaign, playable as Axis and Soviets, can only be a good thing. There is also a discount available for the launch for the PC version – and we all like saving money don’t we!

"The German army is a machine, and machines can be broken" (Konstantin Rokossovsky – Marshal of the Soviet Union – broke the German counter-attack at Kursk)

Summer 1943 – It has been two years since the Wehrmacht is stuck on the Eastern Front. The initial underestimation of the quality of the Red army and its weapons reached a climax with the major defeat in Stalingrad. It is now time to launch a decisive counter-attack to change the tide of the war on this front! With well-rested soldiers and brand new armored units, the German army is likely to break the enemy defenses in the salient of Kursk. However, the Soviet commanders have anticipated this move. A huge battle is about to begin.

Today we are very excited to announce the release of Battle of Kursk - the first expansion of Battle Academy 2 – on PC and iPad!

Driven by two new challenging campaigns, the expansion includes a carryover system that invites players to have the wider strategic picture in mind when they plan their next turn. Indeed, a pyrrhic victory at the beginning of the game will certainly turn into a memorable defeat few scenarios after! As the head of both armies, players will also have to quickly identify the strengths of the new units available to bring out the best of them.

A terrific 50% launch discount is available on PC only! We are also going to offer a free Steam key to anyone who bought a copy of the PC version from the Matrix Games or Slitherine store, once the game is available on this digital platform!
