The Wargamer's 2004 Holiday Buying Guide
Introduction
The Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. brings two things: turkey and
the holiday shopping season. For the staff of The Wargamer, we
assemble our annual Holiday Buying Guide, a selection of
recommendations geared towards our readers. These recommendations
are based on the hundreds of games we've played in 2004, and we
believe them to be excellent choices for all sorts of gamers.
As usual, we've broken up our favorites into a predictable
assortment of categories: wargames, strategy games, FPS/action games,
flight sims, RPGs, and table top games. While the war and
strategy game lists are our largest, with the help of some new
contributors, we've expanded our tabletop selection
significantly. In addition to picking board games, we also
included card and miniature games.
Thanks for your patronage of The Wargamer.
How to Use This Guide
The Wargamer's Holiday Buying Guide for 2004 is broken up into sections, with each section listing a series of games. Each game has a brief description and some helpful descriptive elements to help decide if this game might have an appeal for the gift recipient. Finally, links are provided to coverage here on The Wargamer, outside web pages where applicable, and a helpful purchase link. We recommend purchasing from e-tailers including
GoGamer (great pricing),
Chips 'n Bits (great selection of hard-to-find games),
Amazon (great for most everything
non-gaming), or the respective publisher's store for those
hard-to-find games.
Thanks for reading The Wargamer, and Happy Holidays!
