Sub Command

The real brilliance in game interface design lies in the fact that Sub Command is indeed three different submarine simulations rolled into one game, with essentially common control functionality.
Silent Hunter II
PC GAME REVIEW posted on 29 JAN 2002 by Marty McKone
The smooth gameplay and the thoroughly absorbing atmosphere, set up by the sound and stunning graphics, make it a wonderful game to play. Yet it is let down by an unimaginative campaign mode and a lack of a multiplayer function.
Silent Hunter II
PC GAME PREVIEW posted on 4 NOV 2001 by Marty McKone
My feel is that players will get a lot out of Silent Hunter II. There are numerous missions to get through in the campaign and the ability to create almost endless variations to the single missions will provide good replay value. As with any preview, it isn't possible to know exactly how the final product will turn out. One of the things I would really like to have previewed is the multi-player option. And I'm also very excited to see how Silent Hunter II interfaces with Destroyer Command. The opportunity to link with a friend who has Destroyer Command would only further enhance the excitement and replay value of the game as players recreate the often unnoticed and often deadly battles of the North Atlantic or other theatres such as the Mediterranean or Caribbean.
Battle Isle - The Andosia War
PC GAME REVIEW posted on 12 MAR 2001 by Al Berke
Battle Isle - The Andosia War is an interesting mix of turn-based tactical combat and real-time strategy (RTS) that offers an ultimately satisfying series of bloody slugfests for those gamers patient enough to work through multiple patches and scanty documentation.
Submarine Titans
PC GAME REVIEW posted on 8 OCT 2000 by Rodney W. Harper
Submarine Titans is a fun and beautiful game. It can be as complex as the player wants it to be. There is a lot of control given to the player in the way of key configurations and scripting (recommended for advanced players). Multiplayer is well done and provided many hours of enjoyment when the player becomes tired of fighting against the AI. The AI is no slouch either, and proved to be a worthy opponent in most cases. With the random scenario generation, a scenario editor, and a strong community of Submarine Titans fans, this game should be around for a while.
Submarine Titans
PC GAME PREVIEW posted on 15 APR 2000 by Spike Wyatt
Any company with the misfortune of releasing an RTS game at a time when Earth 2150 and Warlords Battlecry are just hitting the market needs an angle - something to make their game different. By taking Submarine Titans underwater and introducing the effects of depth to the 3D world, Ellipse Studios may well have given Strategy First and PAN a product with the required difference. From the preview version I received, this game looks to be a lot of fun, although not without its shortcomings.
Silent Hunter II
PC GAME PREVIEW posted on 15 FEB 2000 by Neil Fradkin
Silent Hunter II, the sequel to the 1996 Pacific theater submarine simulation, will this time take players to the colder waters of the western hemisphere as a U-Boat commander in the service of Germany’s Kriegsmarine. Other than the change of theater, the largest change to the game will be its 3D engine. Visuals will be true 3D, providing nice visuals and hopefully making it easier to identify ships and gather other visual information from your surroundings. This should also make the planned mission recorder (a feature every sim should have) a sight to behold. Of course, sighting up hapless transports to set up a torpedo run is only half of the battle; the other half is listening for the deadly pings of the destroyers and the splash of the depth charges. 3D will play a part here as well, as the sound engine will also be 3D.
Silent Hunter: Commander's Edition
PC GAME REVIEW posted on 5 FEB 1998 by Richard Arnesen
Overall this game is a load of fun. There is a lot of replayability built into the Commander's Edition of Silent Hunter and even more if you sample the many user-made scenarios available on the Internet. I found myself getting very personally involved with the ships I commanded and fighting the dreaded one more ship (or turn) battle. Don't get discouraged early if you have little success. Silent Hunter requires practice and a sound understanding of naval tactics to master. If you choose to make the required investment of time, your patience will pay off big time, rewarding you with a truly unique gaming experience that just may make you feel like you're really hunting for juicy targets in the treacherous, enemy-infested waters of World War II's Pacific Theater.
Civilization II Multiplayer Gold Edition
PC GAME REVIEW posted on 19 JAN 1998 by Ben Lieb
In summary, there are many elements of the game that I didn't mention. I assume that most readers have some sort of experience with Civilization, in one of its many forms. My honest opinion is that, being one of the first truly strategic games, this is as good as it gets. I heard some talk about Civilization III, but I can't imagine anything more perfect than this implementation.
