The Wargamer's Readers' Choice Awards - 2006
The Readers' Choice Awards - Game of the Year
Game of the year voting was hotly contested and very close. Just as with the
best wargame of the year, it was a close contest. But interestingly, the voting
followed best developer but without a tie. The result was the gold going to
Take Command: 2nd Manassas, the silver going to Conquest of the
Aegean, and the bronze going to Forge of Freedom: The American Civil
War 1861-1865.
We’re not sure who changed their mind, but it was a close race. So close,
in fact, that there are three honorable mentions for Game of the Year: Birth
of America, which also drew an honorable mention for best wargame, and
the top two strategy titles of last year, Medieval 2: Total War and
Company of Heroes.
The wargamer would like to thank everyone who voted. We would also like to
thank all of the great developers and publishers for making 2006 one of the
best gaming years yet. We’re already enjoying a good year in 2007 and
we can’t wait to see how it ends.
