First there was Legions of Steel the boardgame (which I must confess I hadn’t heard of), then French development studio, Studio Nyx, started a Kickstarter campaign to develop a digital version. Alas this was not successful; however, a Plan B emerged with a partnership with strategy games publisher Slitherine and 18 months later the game has finally hit the (e)stores being released for PC (including Steam) and iPad.

The latest version brings a campaign system to the otherwise tactical battle game, so instead of being stand alone battles with no impact on the progress of the war, your successes and failures can have strategic meaning.

Last Thursday Slitherine released boardgame conversion Legions of Steel on PC. Looks like they were just fine tuning the iPad version (or waiting for Apple to get their fingers out I guess) as just a few days later they have announced the iPad version is available.
