Wargamer Weekly: Strategy Gamer, Battle of Britain, and War07 Apr 2017 0
Joe is away this week, again. It's like that guy barely ever works. So here I am, forced to begrudgingly bring myself to the keyboard and write news for all of you. Let's get it on!
A New Website: Strategy Gamer, Home to All Your Strategy Needs
Joe gave a heads-up last week about the launch of our new website, and I'm happy to say Strategy Gamer is now live! A site with a slightly bigger scope than Wargamer, Strategy Gamer aims to cover tactical and strategic titles of varying depths and audiences, from historical to sci-fi, from squad-based to army-sized. This does means we may have a slight overlap of subjects at times and some of the less "niche" franchises like Total War will get more coverage over at SG, but don't worry -- Wargamer remains as awesome as ever, and we won't change its focus nor its style. Strategy Gamer is here to broaden our horizons instead of tightening our reach.
Luckily, if you enjoy our writing, you gonna love Strategy Gamer -- most of Wargamer's staff is over at SG, so you can expect the same quality and variety of content you get here. Go check it out and tell all your friends about it! We're open to feedback, and with your readership and help, I'm sure we can make Strategy Gamer the go-to hub for Strategy Games on the internet!
We also have a Discord channel set up for all three sites that's seeing a nice influx of traffic lately, so be sure to drop by and make yourself at home. We like people, so come by, take off your hat, and chat your ass off.
Another busy week for Matrix. Command: Modern Air / Naval Operations and Northern Inferno have been updated to version 1.11, bringing with it a lot of improvements and a new version of the Korean Missile Crisis scenario, along with a recent "stutter" issue and much better ASAT logics. You can find out more about it here.
Scourge of War: Wavre, the expansion for the acclaimed real-time wargame Scourge of War: Waterloo, is finally here. It puts you in command of either the French forces of the aile droite of the l'Armée du Nord lead by Marshal Groucy, or the Prussians of Johann von Thielmann tasked with holding the line and protecting the rear of Blucher’s Army. You can get it here or on Steam.
Every year, wargamers from all over the United Kingdom gather in London for the huge Salute event, full of games, stands, competitions, and more. This year, Salute 2017 takes place on ExCeL London near London City Airport, and Matrix will be there. They'll be bringing a lot of games, releases, and products for fans to check out -- including discounted special boxed editions! -- so be sure to stop by and meet some of the team. Wargamer's editor Joe Robinson will also be there to help with media coverage, so if you ever wanted to punch him, there's your chance.
So go visit Matrix/Slitherine's booth at Salute, buy some stuff, and ask Joe some questions about our sites, including the newest addition, Strategy Gamer. Hope you have fun, and we'll have a small coverage of the event for those of you can't attend it!

New Battle Of Britain Set For WWII Wings Of Glory
Fans of dogfights can start getting giddy, as Ares Games' has announced their Battle Of Britain Starter Set for their World War II wargame Wings Of Glory.
Containing two Supermarine Spitfires Mk.I and two Messerschmitts Bf-109E, the package also brings staples of starter kits such as a comprehensive rulebook (presenting from Basic to Advanced rules, alongside Optional ones), a scenarios booklet, and a rich assortment of counters, rulers, and airplane console boards. Further content is expected, such as new packs with the Spitfire Mk.I (610 Squadron), the Messerschimitt Bf.109 E-3 (Jagdgeschwader 2), the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I (303 Polish Squadron) and the Junkers Ju.87 B-2 “Stuka” (Sturzkampfgeschwader 77).
