Weekly Round-Up - Keeping TABS on Sanctus Reach01 Dec 2016 2
A short and sweet update for you this week, but there are still things worth talking about in wargaming.
Sanctus Reach Release Date
We reported on the existence of this game when it first appeared earlier in the year, and it's exciting to hear that we're only a couple of months away from getting our hands on it properly. It's been in beta for a while now, and was recently showcased at an Open Day at Warhammer World in Nottingham, UK.
In case you've forgotten just what Sanctus Reach is, here's the official blurb:
“Sanctus Reach is a 3D turn-based strategy game made for real Warhammer 40,000 fans! Relive the Sanctus Reach campaign and lead the Space Wolves to victory against the orks of Grukk Face-Rippa as they swipe over the planet of Alaric Prime. Command dozens of different unit types in two long campaigns, see them grow battle after battle as they gain more experience and new abilities, employ winning tactics and crush your enemy. In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war!”
There's also a pretty sweet wallpaper you can download from the news post as well.
Wargame iOS Sale
You thought the sales madness was over? It's NEVER over. As we reported on last week, Slitherine/Matrix have also been throwing their hat into the discount ring. This has now extended to their mobile catalogue.
Our sister site Pocket Tactics has most of the details, but the majority of Slitherine's games are currently enjoying a discount of some sort. More are expected to follow as well, so watch this space.
We here at Wargamer pride ourself on being on the cutting edge of Wargame Research and Development. We've devoted ourselves to the pursuit of knowledge, accuracy, and Totally Serious Battle Simulations.
That's why we're very pleased to report we've gained access to the Alpha of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator. Here's how it's going so far:
If you don't know what TABS is, you need to enlighten yourself. Right now.
Flying Pig Games recently launched a Kickstarter for a re-print of their Old School Tactical Vol.1 game, a “fast & furious” WW2 Eastern Front hex & counter wargame.
It's done pretty well for itself – at the time of writing it had raised nearly $19,000, despite only needing $12,000, and still has 9 days to go. The company has now announced what stretch goals are coming with the campaign:
First up are the Die Falle and Solitaire scenarios. This includes a scenario booklet and the Die Falle Force Cards (one German and one Soviet).
Three days, seven battles, one winner. A Kickstarter exclusive linked campaign. Players fight three battles per day, on three different sections of the map, choosing in secret where to commit small, medium, and large numbers of their forces. At the end of the day, the counters remain in place, and the players once again choose their commitments for the second day. Again, the results of the battles are permanent, the counters remaining in the positions they held at the end of the day. On the third and final day, there is the ultimate struggle for the ENTIRE map.
They will also be releasing several semi-linked solitaire scenarios designed by Mark Walker himself, for those of you who may struggle to find someone to partner up with. All of these stretch goals will be made available to eligible backers when they hit $22,000 USD.
Always keep in mind the potential risks of backing a Kickstarter project. Wargamer is not making a recommendation of whether or not to back, simply keeping you informed as to where the project's at.
That's it for this week's update – keep up the good fight, and enjoy your weekend!
