The Nominees
The Winners
Second Runner-up: Horse &
Musket
First Runner-up: Panzer Campaigns - Normandy '44
Turn-based Wargame of the Year: Combat Mission
Comments: There were a lot
of excellent choices in 2000 to keep turn-based wargame fans at their
computers. Voting was wide spread among the numerous titles nominated,
but the juggernaut known as Combat Mission easily took the
honors, equaling the combined total of the two runners-up.

Second Runner-up: Brigade Combat

First Runner-up: Shogun - Total War
Real-Time Wargame of the Year: Close Combat - Invasion Normandy
Comments: We threw Combat
Mission out of this category as well, but it still would have come
up short against Close Combat - Invasion Normandy. Compare the real-time and
turn-based categories for both war and strategy games...in terms of
number of qualified titles, they seem to be mirror images of each other.

Comments: This was sort of
a catch-all category designed to separate the war simulations from the
rest. All of the nominees gained respectable vote totals, with a
close race at the top. |
