If you have any comments, suggestions or submissions, please send them in to Michael Chung. Welcome to The Command Post, The Wargamer's coverage of Close Combat III: The Russian Front. For the latest site news, take a trip down to Intelligence. Introduction: Close Combat III: The Russian Front will be the third game in Atomic's highly successful Close Combat series. Due out in January of 1999, this third game will focus on the Eastern Front starting with the German invasion of the Soviet Union on the Polish frontier in June 1941, all the way to the fall of Berlin in mid 1945. The player will have the option of playing either as the Russians or the Germans, and the game will allow the player to move his "fire brigade" from hot spot to hot spot along the Eastern Front. Players will be able to battle from the open steppes of Russia to the burned and blackened rubble of the once glorious German capital of Berlin. As before in Atomic's two previous Close Combat games, combat will occur in real-time, and the soldiers' psychology will affect combat reactions. Soldiers will gain experience and become more effective over time. Support for multiplayer is expected to include head to head play over modem, LAN and TCP/IP through Microsoft's Zone.com.
System Requirements: Expected system requirements are as follows: A Pentium 133 or above processor, 32 MB of RAM, 60 MB of hard drive space, 4x CD-ROM, SVGA video card supporting 800x600 at 16-bit colour, and a mouse. A sound card is recommended. A 28.8k (or faster) modem will be required to play head to head. Internet access and a recent version of Internet Explorer are needed to log on to Microsoft's Zone.com.
