Review: Gary Grigsby’s War in the West

Thu Aug 10, 2017 2:41 pm

War in the West is my dream game. In every World War II game I've played; be it Graviteam Tactics, Hearts of Iron or any of the host of other titles...

I find it easiest to learn these games with the aid of some (high quality) youtube channels.

e.g :
XTRG https://www.youtube.com/user/XThatRandomGamer/videos
Hofstadter https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_whPqIR-cwjU2sM1x77VKsD4L81EtEja
Pewpewchewchew https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJjlI8SrU7I
(these are also usefull for WITE)

Then I have a go at the game and fail, and that is the moment I start reading the manual to fill in the gaps.

I prefer watching someone doing it and explaining why they do it before I read the documentation.
Like you said it can be dry stuff to read and can stop you from playing these games all together.
