Normandy for One: Steel Division's Solitaire Experience

Wed Jun 28, 2017 3:47 pm

Like all real-time strategy (RTS) games, Steel Division Normandy '44 requires a combination of dexterity and tactics.

Just as an FYI you can adjust the game speed to "Bullet Time" which is effectively a pause button.

I also struggle with RTS games being an older board and miniature gamer myself. I think the campaigns, despite the curveballs, offer good variety for the solo gamer, rather then just skirmish with the AI. Much better implemented than the campaigns in Wargame Red Dragon.

I also cringe at all the vehicles supplied to the paras but it is a game play conceit based on how the reinforcement system works IMO.

Found it; arrows under the mini-map. I forgot about them.

I installed cheat engine speedhack (single player only !!). It allows you to slow the game down and even lets you pause it while you can still give orders. http://www.cheatengine.org/aboutce.php

Cheat Engine is an open source tool designed to help you with modifying single player games running under window. It comes with a speedhack and more options (but these you don't need to to slow down games).

Download : http://www.cheatengine.org/downloads.php

I suggest you only use the version without Open Candy (thist could be considered to be Malware)

Short tutorial : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dZ2okB8WNQ

Run Cheatengine.exe
Now run the game
Alt tab back to cheatengine
Select the game process in cheat engine by clicking on the computer icon (the icon will be blinking)
Check enable Speedhack (You can add ingame shortcuts in cheatengine through Edit-settings-shortcuts)
Alt Tab back to the game and play

I have used this for Wargame Airland Battle (and other RTS : Company of Heroes, Men of War series, ...) to introduce a kind of bullet time to this game.
