I was so busy taking it all in, I didn't even see that hero! hehe...very nice.
In all seriousness though, I'm having trouble figuring this game out. For some reason the mechanics and the interface just don't sit well with me. Its really not what I'm used to. I have so many questions when trying to figure out a game that I end up just getting frustrated and going to play something else...also, I really feel like I'm missing the boat on this one...in the early game, I really have nothing to do and it feels like I'm missing out on something...I have perused the tutorial and thumbed through the online manual, but I just feel like although this game looks simple, its actually got a rather steep learning curve.
The real fun of the game for me is in making the hard decisions. At first you don't have many but later in the game you have plenty. How do you spend those Ap point, getting a new card, developing Tactic cards, making weapons, moving troops, air attacks, and on and on. The first few turns are exploration, finding the enemy, and securing resources. After that, its all about wearing down the enemy while trying to stay alive. Here is an example of the type of play I run into all the time.
I was playing one on one Human vs. the machines. My forward base was constantly being attacked from the air. To my surprise the enemy's air unit had the ability to damage my anti-air units when they attacked and missed. This was making it very hard for me to counter because I was getting bad die rolls and every other turn had to spend all my point repairing my anti-air. I must have spent 15 turns just fighting this air battle. I finally got the upper had by developing the right tactic cards to play and shot those SOBs down. It was the Battle of Britton all over again. A lot of fun.

Yes I'll make a review for Cyberstratege. Dunno for PC4War, staff have been changed since it filed for bankruptcy...
You should come back to our forums, why did you leave ?
I bet AE will be one of this "sleeper" games that will gather and keep an audience slowly but for a long time, I'll be preaching that [].

I haven't won any games (in demo so.) but for me its winning a battle against an independent here or there or uncovering things on the board. It plays so well on my Win 98SE system (P3-733Mhz 512 RAM, 64Meg Graphic Card) so it runs good no issues here.
I'm definitely leaning on buying this one. Might even put the extra cash so I can have the CD Rom sent to me.
[] I like the fact we're getting good stuff from the Independent designers.

And I can't pull myself away form AE to even try it. It's sitting there, all tempting on my desktop, but I'm always finding myself playing one more turn as the Xenopods or the Mutants.[]

(note that GoA looks quite interesting, but also very dated and with a clunky interface...)

I didn't get much sleep last night. My wife now officially hates AE.
That is probably the highest praise I can give a game. [&o]
