Pocus has posted some in-game screenshots featuiring the Russian campaign. Looks really cool, graphix are different from Birth of America and American Civil War, less "cartoon" and more "Osprey" looking. The map is less crowdy too. I think I like them too. Their original artist left to work on other projects, which may account for the change. SoM

But don't lose sleep - one guy on the AGEOD ACW forum did a whole load of new portraits, which are equally good - and full credit to him too.[&o][&o][&o][

Personally, I actually think this new art style is highly appropriate and very attractive. I LOVE the general portraits, as they actually look like real oil paintings. Vive la France (and I would say it is about time that AGEOD, a group of les Francais, actually makes a game about FRANCE! [:'(]) Very excited... gonna brush up on AACW so I will be ready to conquer Europe (never never never play the Coalition, traitors to the Republic). SoM

Wow! [&o] Thanks for the heads up, Transat.
After the Napoleonic Wars, one of the officers of the Old Guard, Noisot, had erected at his own expense a bronze monument to Napoleon. He arranged to be buried standing up a few yards so that he could continue to stand guard for eternity.

And yet another one! Napoleon's Campaigns will propose a huge peninsula war campaign: Spain (1808-1814). Enjoy! [image]http://aycu30.webshots.com/image/28949/2005931714183762941_rs.jpg[/image] List of the campaigns featured in Napoleon's Campaigns: Austerlitz (1805) Trafalgar (1805) Iéna (1806) Friedland (1807) Danube (1809) Portugal (1811) Russia (1812) Germany (1813) France (1814) Waterloo (1815) Prussia (1806-1807) Spain (1808-1814) And a special bonus "What if?" scenario: The invasion of Britain!!! (1805). ETA is one month... Best regards, Korrigan

For now only the French publisher has been finalized, for the boxed version. For the rest of the world, this is by download from our website (which is the best way to help the studio live and prosper).

I guess what they call "Waterloo" must be "Les Cents Jours", the last Napoleonian gamble. So I would expect a scenario lasting from 6 to 12 turns, just like short scenarios in American Civil War (Gettisburg and such).

I've alwasy wondered -- what do the French think of Napoleon Bonaparte today? What are they taught about him in school? Is he viewed as a hero, albeit a tragic one who was destroyed by his own hubris?

This discussion probably would be better placed in another thread! [
] I'm not French, but I do teach college history, and I would say Napoleon left a pretty positive legacy. Military genius, revolutionized Europe's society, left a code of laws that is the basis for many of Europe's modern codes. It is hard to be overly negative, although hubris may be a crime. Best of all, his exploits left plenty of material for some excellent PC games! [

A larger 1815 scenario covering Western Europe could be fun – although it would be very difficult for the French to win. It could include Murat’s campaign against the Austrians in Italy (i.e. Panaro, Ferrara, Occhiobello, Carpi, Casaglia, Ronco, Cesenatico, Pesaro, Scapezzano, Tolentino, Ancona, Castel di Sangro, San Germano and Gaeta).
