I'm a Mac user and I noticed that the PC version of the game has six patches and the Mac only 2. Is there a difference between the two? Varangian

1.02a is the same as 1.06a. Next update they will both be 1.07. The Mac has to run in Rosetta so it will be slow on many Macs. I almost just skipped the Mac version because Adobe support for it is so unsatisfactory. If you are a Mac user make sure you try the demo out first and the response is something you can live with. It's better than nothing I thought. The Mac has so few strategy games I thought I would at least offer people the choice. Hopefully the next game can take advantage of the new Director 11 due out this year.

I have it on the mac.  The performance is a little "clunky," but its definitely playable.  Great game.  I'm glad you didn't skip making a mac version.  Thanks.

Is there any reason the AI wouldn't execute as well on a Mac vs. a PC?

Nope, it's the exact same code. The major difference is the executable that starts each program. If you are hammering the AI consistently then you should probably start handicaping yourself. Check around here there are some great suggestions for gimping yourself.

Personally, I don't really see a problem with the Mac version, and I sure can't thank you enough for going ahead and making it. I had not played a computer game in about 5-6 years until AE. You won't leave us behind when the expansion rolls around, will ya? As for being slow, it runs just fine for me and I'm using a Mac PowerBook G4 (Power PC, not Intel) with a major motherboard defect. There are some minor delays for menu options, but they are truly minor. Clicking LOAD GAME takes 7 seconds for the list of games to appear. Clicking LOAD GAME takes the longest -- 20 seconds -- for the game to appear. But, honestly, these pauses are so minor I can't see how anyone could be agonizing over them. I'm anxious to compare how AE runs on the replacement MacBook I'll be getting shortly.
