Panzer Command allows users to add new units and 3D models, unlike CM.   Mad Russian and the HSG group will be making a bunch of new scenarios as soon as modders and mapmakers create the tanks and other things needed for the scenarios.   CM will not be fixed, patched or content added, but PC is just beginning.

What, in essence, is the difference between CM and PC?    1) Is the AI improved?   2) Are there more unit actions compared to CM? [i.e. close to contact; seek hull down; scoot & shoot]   3) Are different types of ammunition available and self-selected by friendly AI for armored units?   4) Is artillery used via spotters and executed using spotter rounds?   5) Is unit damage calculated as well as CM?    Just a few things I wonder about PC...

The main problems I have seen with Combat Mission is running it on an NVidia 8800. Even the old versions like Berlin to Barborossa (great game) are pretty choppy - not just Shock Force

I see Shock Force can be played real time, which I prefer. Do any of the old CM games (or for that matter Matrix's Panzer Command) allow real time play, or are they only the WeGo system? Regards Keith

No to all 5, but that doesn't matter, they are different games. PC is a good game, not a good simulation. Some people like less, some like more...

ORIGINAL: junk2drive Panzer Command allows users to add new units and 3D models...
I know nothing about this game but, is this true? Users can add a completely new vehicle with new 3D model, data, etc...? Same with buildings? Would that effectively end the series? Why would anyone buy a sequel when they can download new vehicles, buildings, etc... for free? Most games allow modding of existing vehicles, uniforms, buildings, etc.. But not the creation of entirely knew objects.

Yes it's true and I brought up that point about buying an expansion or sequel. The idea is to have new features in the expansion (in the game engine). Something like multi turret tanks or destructable buildings that PCOWS and PCK do not have that would influence someone to purchase it. But unlike some games, the intention is to have it backwards compatible so that you get the new features in your old games too. Nice.   Check out the mod forum at Matrixgames PCK for previews of some WIP like a LL Sherman and some KV models. Another modder made new buildings, brush, haystacks and more.

I did begin to play CMBB since a couple of days and wow what a great game! I don't know why I stayed away from this one so long!
The soldiers swear they will obey the Emperor willingly and implicitly in all his commands, that they will never desert and will always be ready to sacrifice their lives for the Roman Empire.

The first 3 Combat missions are excellent. It's the recent past one Combat Mission Shock Force that isn't good. But, I'd definitely recommend the first 3 and Combat Mission Africa Korp is the best if you get the CMETO mod for it.
A.I. production-it's more like, Okay, the games about ready--lets stick some A.I. in- you have 3 weeks.
