So does this play just on the 60GB PS3, or on any?

I honestly gave up trying to guess which 2nd Gen PS3 would or would not play PS2 games with whatever hope of success, and just hunted around until I found a 1st Gen PS3. One software upgrade download later (which doesn't affect the PS2 hardware inside the 1st Gen systems) and I was good to go. Incidentally, I see I've been out of the loop a few years: we really are up to Ro3K #11! The game's potential scope has been somewhat simplified (can't start as a peon and work your way up to overlord or Emperor now; or anyway that was taken out of #9), and the battle mechanics have been changed at least once since #8. Also in Ro3K #8, one's actions could be realistically constrained by exterior criteria like the season of year or certain council meetings, but that was streamlined, too, in #9. (Don't know about #11 yet.)

I tried the demo for RTK and while the Strategic portion was very deep, I thought the tactical combat was very weak. The only other KOEI game I ever played was Ghengis Khan II many years ago. I really loved that game, though it also had fairly simple combat.

Though I have a working PS2, anyone tried one of those PS2 emulators for the PC?

Actually, there's only Takeda and Sango which have a fixed campaing with mostly battles. Takeda 2, Sango 2 and the forthcoming Takeda 3 have all a turn-based strategy map. Cheers

Anguille...would you be so kind to give us all a heads up when Takeda 3 is released to the English market. I know you follow it over in the magitech forums. Thanks!

Anguille, You can still get the same gameplay experience (different timeframe and culture and historical context, but not greatly different in the distinctive experience) with the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series. Same game engine, and it's usually available for Windows (including the latest, 11th iteration. Though as noted above the expansion pack hasn't been released in the US, and probably never will be.)
