The CGSC Simulations Support Team will be at Spring Maneuvers in Lawrence, KS, on the 20th and 21st of February.  (Sorry about the short notice.) We'll be running: Kriegsspiel (the 1824 original) 1980s Microarmor miniatures Panther Games' Conquest of the Aegean & Battles from the Bulge (sneak peek beta!) as a staff exercise The event site: [link=http://www.lawrence-wargaming.com/]http://www.lawrence-wargaming.com/[/link] The game list:[link=http://www.lawrence-wargaming.com/games.html]http://www.lawrence-wargaming.com/games.html[/link] And an article about it: [link=http://www2.ljworld.com/events/2009/feb/20/30447/]http://www2.ljworld.com/events/2009/feb/20/30447/[/link]

We ran a series of packed events!  (The shots are all from Friday when the convention itself was not packed.) This photo shows the umpire's map for Kriegsspiel; I'm the balding guy on the left, Giles Scildt is sitting to my riht, and Chaim Krause is at the minis table in the background.  We're trying to explain Kriegsspiel to a reporter, who eventually produced this report: [link=http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2009/feb/21/assembly-waging-giant-wars-miniature-scale/][color=#0000cc]http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2009/feb/21/assembly-waging-giant-wars-miniature-scale/[/color][/link] Unfortunately, we've got no pictures of the Staff Exercises using Conquest of the Aegean, but I'll put a few more pictures of the Kriegsspiel and miniatures game in the next few posts.

And an overview of our small area.  (We had four people there, but Curt Pangracs stayed behind the camera.)

Cool.  The games you ran last year at Origins were awesome.

Thanks!  I expect to be at Origins running staff exercises again, too.  [
] Now some views of the minis game, which Chaim and Curt ran in a combination of staffexercise and Kriegsspiel manner -- the players had to conduct formal planning, and then, instead of touching their troops directly, had to issue orders higher-level orders for Curt and Chaim to execute.

And, finally, the briefings handed to various sides for the COTA staff exercises.  Download, then rename the .txt extension to .zip to unpack into Powerpoint and Word docos.

Looks like there is a good chance of myself making it there this year even though Matrix is planning on not being there at the moment. The classes James ran last year were a blast and if I'm there I'll be more then happy to help out again. As long as James edits my Soviet forces and puts my tanks back in the formations.   [sm=bayonetbrant.gif]   LOL.

I'll be running three of these staff games at Origins this year, with essential help from Brant Guillory, Captain Darwin, Rob Crandall, and Mark Graves!         We'll be running Flashpoint Germany on Thursday morning, TacOps on Thursday afternoon, and Battles from the Bulge on Friday!
