I've gotten (though not installed and played yet) the update to CC3, mainly because I had never bought the original CC3. I keep hearing that of the two updates so far, CC:CoI (CC3v.2) has been done better than CC:WaR (the Bulge game).

I'll probably end up getting both of the other updates, too, simply because they exist and I've never yet bothered to get much into the original CC4 and CC5 (which I bought cheap several years ago from NWS, if I recall correctly.) But still... I hear a lot of complaints by people who were expecting the engine to play better (or even up to snuff with long-standing mods.) This doesn't inspire me to rush in ruining my New Years' Resolution not to buy so many games this year. {wry g}

A little birdie whispered in my ear that not only is A Bridge Too Far being worked on, but there's a Beta build of it floating around somewhere....

Status : Offline | as usual I want a CC3 remake. many dont like it but it was my favorite of the bunch. CC5 was lots of fun and if you notice with this remake the strat map focuses on the coast not the whole peninsula.
anyway ya slice it Im glad the series is getting a makeover.

Status : Online | I haven't had an interest in buying the remade CC's lately, even though I'm sure they're fun, but if A Bridge Too Far is done consider me a customer. It's a long-term investment as far as I'm concerned. It's been a long time since I played it so I can't remember anything that needed overt "fixing". The Grand Campaign really was what made this one so special to me. Resupplying drop-zones, fighting over the same maps with the same troops, the given and take with each passing day…I really got to know a lot of the soldiers and made each battle more and more intense.
We're talking probably ten years now since I last played, but I still distinctly remember many of the maps and battles, and times when troops would run out or be cut off from supply and have only handfuls of bullets to fight with. I remember defending one small bridge as the Americans with a tiny force. A sniper, MG team, rifle team and a mortar team. I had a fantastic vantage point with the sniper and a good killing zone on our side of the bridge. Those guys fought off multiple, determined German attacks. They were eventually whittled down, and when armor was brought in we had to finally retreat. But man, every time that map loaded up I was ready for a fight and knew "this one" may be the last for these guys.
Anyway…I'll end my reminiscing there.
