It would be nice to see two games in one. Hi-tech Big Gun '85 and Loose-Canon fast draw McGraw 'can't see well in the dark' mid-70's. I would love to be able to participate as a writer in such a game. I volunteer to help proof read !

Missed the big party; although if I'm not mistaken, we relieved your unit at Camp Doha in May (A month or two before the 2d Squadron howitzer battery managed to blow up the motorpool).
So I guess the question is: The Studio or Joe's?

If that's the case, then I might owe you big time. CP saved me serious cabfare back in the day.

Status : Online | A-10 Warthog Tank Killer was designed to KILL Warsaw Pact Armor. It was designed for Depleted Uranium 'Pact Horde' Tank Killing. I participated in A-10 Warthog European battlefield testing as a TANK target. Did anyone participate with EXOTIC WEAPONS ?
re:
Thank you in advance for any war game research leads offered.
I seek real-time/real-world and Online/Virtual Life Expression hardware leads leading to servicable weapon systems capable of making Depleted Uranium obsolete on the modern battlefield. Weapon system candidates should accomplish the following:
A. Kill like DU-- burn through 20' of sand dune and still kill OpFor heavy armor or bring-down the mountains upon bunkered-down mighty men of war.
B. Deny OpFor battlefield equipment recovery.
C. Leave no persistent residual Nuclear Biological Chemical warfare after effects common to DU.
D. The weapon need not have straight-line LOS/LOF capability, target acquisition should include LOS, AND target acquisition & time-on-target must be as portable as DU. Weapons capable of OpFor Geocentric & earth core time space/dimesion displacement (ie Tesla Tech) are preferable.

Status : Online | I have a played a few wargames on a NATO/Pact war; there was NATO Commander, which was extra tough because it had this unique real-time system and was designed for color monitors but I just had a green one ( this is early 1980's ), , Reforger '88 ( just the Fulda Gap ), Red Lightning ( made in 1987 ), most recently the Germany 1984 scenario of OPART ACOW.
I've played the computer, often as NATO, last bunch of times as the Pact. Even with a bunch of notes on the NATO setup it's hard for the Pact to win; the divisional bean count is under the nice 3:1 ratio for attackers, around 80ish to 30ish, with most Pact divisions understrength while NATO is full up.
This year I wandered into a wargaming newsgroup where someone mentioned how flawed the OOB is for the scenario, so I spent about 5-6 weeks of internet research ( uh oh! )
and tweaks on the scenario. Haven't played it since the modifications.
The closest thing to a Pact veteran on the internet is a Mig 21 pilot of East Germany:

Ok, I 'fess up. I'm from the Starship Enterprise NCC-1701 & and stuck on re-run/recycle and Bones let me out of Sick Bay and Captain Kirk said I could look for exotic weapons as long as Spock tags a long. Spocks wearing a beard and pretending like he's from another universe or something. Spock is smarter than me, so that's cool. Besides, I'm afraid to pull the trigger if we find an exotic weapon, but Spock will do it if it SAFE. We want to shoot some Depleted Uranium radioactive contaminated topsoil in Chernobyl, Persian Gulf, former Yugoslavia, White Sands, or maybe even the USAF Barry M. Goldwater Gunnery Range at Gila Bend and see if the ray gun zaps the radioactive stuff into Never Never Land or the earth's core or something. Down Under they are diggin' and the Diggers will be ticked-off if the stuff winds-up in the Outback. Real Cold War warriors saw some unusual R & D weapons designed to KILL Pact Armor in the Gaps (remember those Bundeswehr 12,000FPS rocket assisted rifled main gun rounds that would slap Leopard MBT tracks off the ground in Graf ? BANG-ZIP-BANG.), but not all of the exotic weapons would have us singing 'The Neutron Dance' with the Pointer Sisters. Spock believes some of the weapons are developments of Tesla Tower technology lost in blatant lie propaganda, ancient JP Morgan & Westinghouse Edison 'lectric, and DARPA. Ok, we never got to see these zappo ray guns go LIVE FIRE with Blackhorse and 11 ACR Tri Border and Fulda Gap while we were planning how to get to Gibralter and swim to Africa/get Stateside/re-equip/re-invade, but what if we can find some old Cold War battlefield exotics that could Abracadara radiation ? Depleted Uranium was/is STILL the OVERT king of the armor killing battlefield, but it is not the only sword in the arms room.

re:
Gruss Gott aus olde tyme 3AD Spearhead USAREUR NATO Ritter Halle Kransberg, Thomas Kraft ! Please come and contribute Warsaw Pact first-hand real-time Cold War in-put at the wargamer.com wargame research round rable at SWATTER's NATO Ground War duscussion. L'Chiam ! To Life ! I'm glad we NEVER busted FULL-BLOWN 'balloon has gone up' caps at each other-- would have wasted Europe.
Das macht spass ! Toll ! re:
"Here you can see me in an Alert Unit Aircraft Shelter waiting for the Americans to attack us."
We were saying, "Der Russ kommt ! Der Russ kommt !"
I once saw T-62 and T-72 by the hundreds and hundreds, perhaps more than a thousand while on your side of the old Iron Curtain. Did Warsaw Pact tanks maintain a 24/7/365 main gun firing pin upload ? Were they uploaded with small arms machine gun ammunition ? Were they up-loaded with main gun ammo ?
Hubschrauber ! Wunderbar !
Do you have any information about Cold War High Altitude Nuclear Explosion warfare H.A.N.E. and any information that may relate to near-earth plasma events of 13 March 1989 ? Do you have any exotic battlefield weapon first-hand of systems capable of TIME or PLACE/SPACE target displacement, such as EARTH-CENTRIC geomagnetic weapon systems capable of displacing earth mass into earth's core ? Here in CONUS, I have only ONE (1) verified report of a plasma ray gun deployed in California CONUS united states of America during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, but it was not capable of target space/time displacement-- it simple obliterated targets. This weapon was hauled to range by a 3 AD SPEARHEAD USAREUR NATO veteran of 1/33 ARMOR 2 BDE Gelnhausen, FRG.

No .50/7.62 mgs for anyone. Hurry up & wait. As a Battalion photographer I was able to roam around and see what was happening and this prompted me to move off-post immediately, though I was required to maintain a bunk on-post.

Status : Offline | Resurrecting the thread at the risk of it going off topic again; but, in case any one is interested, I found copies of some mid-seventies U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency reports on soviet tank and motorized rifle units. The reports on tank companies and tank battalions can be downloaded at http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/19/p13_fileid/1786 and http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/19/p13_fileid/1785.
I should have the reports on motor rifle companies and battalion scanned and up in the next day or so.
