Crews only know how to work one tank at a time.  If you move them to any other tank (up, down, sideways) they need retraining if you want to keep most of their skill percentage.

I too have started playing this. Quite fun with the different tanks. But I'm also thinking what exactly is the purpose of the game? I know it's to have fun and advance your tank research, but I wish there was some kind of campaign mode with Germany versus Russia.

I think in the final retail version they will have battles that determine resources and territory in operations and or campaigns.  They will also set up "historical battles" where only tanks from a certain nation and time period can compete (ie Early Russian campaign etc),           I think they have quite a good base to build a lot of different ideas for making a fun MMO for tankers           Con

from reading the forum they do seem to set up specific battles where you cant use upgraded tanks.

I've also just got in to the game. Having a blast with it. Some matches you're knocked out in 1-2 minutes and others you mangage to get a knock out or two. Seems like a match averages about 7-10 minutes. The maps are really well done also.           I have been spending time in a Marder II, trying to level up my crew to see if that helps any with some of there perks and exp.

ya, those Pz-4 with the Panther turret are just wrong to look at!  LOL     Im trying to not buy a new tank until I can get something worthy.  this is in no way detracting from me having fun though.  at the moment Im loving the light tank battles.

I just finished a game, in my T-44, where I went ripping through the central mountain pass, and took out three arty. I got both steel wall, AND scout. Heh heh. Total uproar. Their arty was screaming for help, I am blowing them up as fast as I can..and my T-44 has a ton of hit points, for the light and medium tanks that were attacking me. I really like the T-44..it is the very best combination of speed and damage dealing. I can outrun anything that can kill me, and kill anything smaller than me.

one thing is for certain.     using terrain to your advantage is key in this game.  hide behind anything that blocks shots.     rocks, buldings and wrecks.

^Your arty is going to worship you for doing this.  Can't count the number of times i'd race around with the BT and spot 'em all, then let arty raise some hell.  Plink off a few shots of damage yourself, and you'll get a ton of xp + cash for all that work (pays off).           Scmallturn on PzIV?  When did that ever happen?

As you learn the maps, you will also learn what specific strategy works best. If you head down the middle of a map, you can be spotted by just about everyone. You don't want that, as incoming will be ... incoming right away! You cannot take a shot from a heavy. At minimum, you will be tracked. If you are tracked, you're dead. Period. Speed is life. For a light tank, I don't stop, ever. I would rather go screaming through the enemy position, and live to fight another day, than to scream into the enemy base, and call it done. That's how you get the really big points. You have more than one engagement. For any tank, if you survive the first and second engagements, and do damage for each, they you will see a very nice credit score and experience gain. I have had matches where I had six or more little mini-engagements, and earned over 2,000 credits. Great fun when it happens, and it doesn't happen often!

Hey, I downloaded this monster World of Tanks client download and it ended up corrupted. So I re-downloaded and installed it and it works fine. The problem is now, whenever I either try to download something else, or try to open/delete/ect. the corrupted file my computer (I guess) is trying to complete the original download of the corrupted file ( the computer is working like crazy and any other functions are severely delayed). I tried changing the download path for new downloads but that didn't work. I have windows XP and it happened on Firefox. I can go to Internet Explorer and download, but would rather get Firefox fixed. If I just click on the file and let the computer run (thinking it will eventually finish) I get a "downloads not responding" message after about 20 or so minutes. Other possible thought might be to just un-install and re-install Firefox. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Their skills starts at the base level of a brand new crew.  So their performance will be poor. With an experienced crew, you normally do one of two things:  1) spend the cash or gold to retrain them to the new tank you just bought (especially if they have hit 100% and are building secondary skills) or 2) keep them AND the tank they were in and use it to farm cash / exp towards shared equipment. Typically it's not worth retraining crews until you are in a Tier 5 or 6 tank - you level out of a tank before your crews are really good.  Later when you are in a higher level tank for a long long time (IS3 to IS4 takes a looooong time) and you hit 100% with some guys it is worth retraining them. I've taken about 3 weeks off from this game, but I think I'm ready to get back into it - look for my T34 / T34-85 / Panther / T43 / IS3 under the name of Qualm in your battles and give me a shout!

will do.  Im getting plasterd being a Bt-7 scout for my teams arty but it does seem to be worth it.     Ive also finally figured out the auto targeting when on the move.  while I cant scratch the heavies or mediums Im getting the occasional arty piece.

I've "upgraded" to a T-28...I think I'm going down the wrong path for me.  I think I may be better suited for tank destroyers.  Gonna work until I get into a KV then see what happens.  I'm so tempted to start working on the German tech tree but that just seems too 'easy'...

Im pretty much ignoring the Germans until I get my T-44.     after that Ill play more with the Germans and I think Im going to go for the upgraded panther and the jagdpanther.
