Good tips, though not always true.  Once you get into the top tiers, you can afford to lead the way...so long as you have flank support.  If you platoon up (So you know you have someone watching your flanks), having a Ferdi or JT leading a charge can completely crumble one side.  Just need the right teammates and situation.  The T28 and T95 are also very good at that, though in that case, I wouldn't call it a "charge" so much as a (very) slowly rolling ball of hurt.  Problem is, most tanks aren't willing to throttle back and stay on the flank of a US TD, which is why the Germans usually work better for this.

I won't disagree with this, other than to say that if you have Ferdinand leading the way, you BETTER have good flank support!

In a match with no arty, and all TD's, this would work.

If the enemy has T-44's, or other fast, mobile tanks, good luck with this strategy.

In a perfect world, ALL matches would be a rolling ball of hurt, with mutually supporting and supportive vehicles.

When the light/scout tanks get too far out in front, and there is a disconnect between them and the FEBA, you have problems.

Same way when the scouts go racing into the enemy backfield to sack the arty, if THEIR arty isn't yet in position.

I tried to give a mention to the highest tiers.

I had the most amazing match, here just a few minutes ago.

In my Tier V, SU-85. Tiers were from IV to VIII.

The match went to 11-12, with me, a Hummel, and a Tier VIII Lorraine, vs two tanks and two arty's.

Our Lorraine stayed all the way back on the back line, by our Hummel. I asked, politely, if he was going to lead the charge, with me, the TD, and three tiers lower, behind him.

Nope.

@#%$^&#$. Fine. I went to go look for the enemy tanks, while the Hummel driver was ripping our Lorraine driver a new backside. It happens. Maybe he doesn't want to pay the repair bill.

I found a KV, got messed up, but we killed it. We're even 12-12. I then see a heavy all the way back by our base, ready to cap. Our Hummel is in a corner....safe, but not really in a position to stop him. I haul ass over to our base, light up the heavy, and between the Hummel and me, we kill him.

Good. Now, 13-12, they just have two arty's. The Lorraine STILL refuses to go hunting arty. Good God.

I take off for the enemy base, see a Hummel turn into him, and we fire at the same time. I die, I take him to 4%. Our Lorraine, now the last non-arty, finally moves off his ass, and stalks the Hummel. Stalks, as in weaving in and out, being hyper conscious. Tick tick tick goes the clock. After two minutes, he FINALLY kills him.

We have two left, they have an arty, 4 minutes left in the game. We are telling this Lorraine to go cap. What does he do? He starts going corner to corner, looking for the arty.

I tell our arty to go get a move on, and cap himself. I am counting down the seconds. 200, 150, 120, and 100, STILL the Lorraine isn't in the circle. Now, it will take BOTH of our tanks to cap. They Lorraine arrives at about 80 seconds, the Hummel at 60 or so.

BOOM! Dirt geyser just misses. If either of our tanks gets hit, it's a draw.

With 20 seconds left, we cap, after a couple more near misses. As time ends, BOOM! Our Hummel takes a BIG chunk out of his teammate, and kills him! YAY!!!!

This happens in sooo many games. Instead of capping and winning the game, tanks will go out to hunt remaining tanks, which put the people that do cap and themselves, at a greater risk.

Or.....instead of waiting for the enemy tanks to approach you when you are on cap (ya know, stay in a hard to hit spot/hidden), they will make an effort to go out in the open (while still on the cap) to engage the enemy....sigh.

yeah. Just yesterday I was left alone in my T-25 AT on Kampinovka, against 6 enemies, while having 2 kills at that point.

Ended the match with 6 kills, altough still a loss. The idiots came out in the open to find me, one by one. The last two got their acts together and started capping together, against which I couldn't do much, already damaged heavily.

I love my Hetzer. I am loving my new StugIII even more.

Somehow, I have managed to become Ace Tanker for my SU-85, and my SU-85B.

I really don't consider myself to be a strong player. This is very odd for me.

My SU-85B is amazing. My ratio has to be 2:1 at this point, kills:death.

I Love the Hetzer too... there is something to "A Hetzers gotta Hetz" and "You've been Hetzed"

just started on the Stug.  and with the short 105 it just feels like an improved Hetzer.

Most ppl I see have the Long 75mm but so far the 105 is working for me... as you can see. Best match in the Stug. so far is 6 Kills.

The StuG is excellent in it's tier.  One of the rare few tanks I kept after levelling out of.  It's fairly fast, turns super quick (faster than some turrets!), and it's top 75mm is a great gun in it's class.  Only downside is that it doesn't hold much ammo.  It's one of the few tanks that make me wanna go back &  play again, since hitting the Tier 7 bait-stage with numerous other lines.

The SU-85 is also great, although it can't turn quite as fast but it's top speed is even faster.  That can help repositioning during lulls in long range shootouts.  Sadly, it doesn't seem to ever deflect shots even when hit with smaller caliber guns and it's profile is a bit larger from the front.

I quit playing the game probably about 6 months ago. I recently logged in to fight a battle just for kicks but all of my tanks other than one TD were gone. Has anyone heard about this happening before? Any idea why/how? Was there some patch? I had a huge set of tanks when I quit playing....

Did you contact customer service?  There have been no updates that wold have eliminated your tanks.  Don't know why anyone would bother hacking an account since they can't do anything with the stuff like trade it.

When the game went "live" from BETA, I stopped playing. Actually, I had stopped playing a couple of months before it went live.

I had a full stable of tanks, almost all were in Tiers 8-10. All were completely decked out, all had crew at 100%+.

I went back to the game just two months ago, and everything was gone. I had an American tank, a special M4A3YYZ, given to me for being a beta tester.

I also had some Tier 1's. With no gear, and crap crew.

Now, right at 1000 matches later, I have two Tier V TD's, two Tier IV TD's, and three other tanks. All are pretty well decked out, and TWO have an Ace Tanker rating!

It didn't take very long to work back into good tanks. If I had chosen, I could easily have two tier IV's, and a tier VII, using the Tier IV's to fun the Tier VII's expenses.

It may very well be that you were involved in the wipe from BETA to live, as I was. That would make perfect sense.

Well, yes.  They wiped everyone's progress after beta was over.  SOP.

Hey, just a thought, but did you see the check boxes in the lower left hand corner that allow sorting of the tanks between countries and primary, secondary etc?  If you see them, make sure they are unchecked so they show your entire garage.  If you do not see the boxes you may have a corrupted install due to missing more than one update.

In fact, if you have missed more than one update, and I think you have due to the time you were not logged in, it may be better to uninstall and re install the client. Hope that helps.

Yeah I just bought the T14 too since most of the price goes to vet charities.  Lost my first 4 battles with it!

I had a match last night where a player - Cocoiscute, or something close to that, bitterly complained that ALL his teams sucked, hard, over a long period of time.

I looked at his stats, laughed, and politely asked him what was the common denominator on his losing teams. A strong player he is not.

He didn't like that much, and pretty much destroyed my little StugIII on the spot, with his Tiger 2.

I'm not sure he appreciated what TK'ing me would do for him, as I was in the starting circle at the time....I understand that it is an auto ban!

Yeah I love it when players who are dead in the first few minutes hang around to say "fail team".

ESPECIALLY the ones who run off half-cocked alone and have the gall to be surprised at getting themselves dead.  That's just downright irksome.
