Status : Offline | As a PS3 owner, I'd never buy this. Why anyone would produce a wired keyboard and mouse when the PS3 has bluetooth is beyond me. It might be fine if you have your PS3 set up on a desk like they do, but I would imagine that most people have theirs in the living room where you would want to eliminate wire trip hazards. That aside, I'm not sure what you would use it for. There are no PS3 games to my knowledge that support keyboard and mouse (Edit: having watched the second video, I see it's possible to play games. Still, I'm one of those who prefer using a controller for shooters rather than keyboard).

This could be a game changer. It looks pretty customizable too!

It works fine for the very few times I use the PS3 for the internet - certainly no games yet need it. Might be OK if they produce some decent flight sims for it, but not sure that would ever happen.
Not tried a mouse, but the manual says I can use one if I want.

They're not selling a keyboard and mouse. They're selling a converter. You plug in your own USB keyboard and mouse to it. So, I suppose you can plug in a wireless bluetooth mouse/keyboard if you wanted to.

However, I just got a press release this morning which might change things. Penguin United has created a device that allows gamers to plug in a mouse and keyboard and play PS3 games as if they were a computer.
If they had this for a 360 I'd be all over it, but since I don't have a PS3, I'm intrigued. If any of you get one of these I would love to hear your impressions.

I am in the same boat regarding the dislike of console hand controllers.
I have heard complaints from persons using keyboards for PS3 gaming has a lot of lag? maybe the game or the keyboard were not optimized.

1) You don't need that Penguin device. If you have a wireless keyboard + mouse, just plug in the USB dongle in the USB slot of the PS3 and these will work as a charm. Or plug in a USB mouse and Keyboard directly.
2) You can play the games using mouse but there's hardly enough buttons and you cannot remap to keyboard (natively). I believe the only game that allows keyboard play in the PS3 like PC is Unreal Tournament.
But that Penguin device can do the remapping for you so it might be useful and make any game playable by Keyboard + Mouse.
3) There is a device called FragFX http://www.splitfish.com/ for shooters (Mouse + Nunchuck combo).
4) External harddrives are compatible.
I don't bother with the mouse in playing shooters. I'm already used to the controllers. In fact I suck in PC shooters because I'm not used to the accuracy of the mouse.
