If you listen to some of the feedback that actually talks about what is in the game, you'll see its not all that bad. Besides, as of 1.07, the game was still FUN to play. I have not tried to play since 1.08, but if it nerfed anything, I have no doubt it will be fixed.
In the meantime, the back and forth about how "unfinished" the game was at release is completely unproductive, and quite frankly, boring. I think everyone who has even a passing interest in this game knows by now that there are some issues. Move on already.

Apparently Steam and other digital outlets have "release slots" similar to B&M retail stores and you have to apply for them and wait for approval. I'm wondering if the decision for the early release is due to this?
And, AFAIK, once a game is released it is pretty normal for journalistic outlets to get review copies pretty quickly. There was a HUGE stink because the developers of the new game APB tried to enforce a two-week post-release moratorium on reviews from all review outlets, something pretty unorthodox and slightly shady (as in, we want people to succumb to temptation before they read how crap this game is). So it isn't very kosher to ask reviewers to wait, so I suspect Muzzy Lane had no choice here with the Gamespot review.

That is very interesting. I wonder how that company thought they could enforce the review delay, does seem a little shady and hard to do since anybody could go pick up the game and review it

I'm glad I'm not working on those patches.... oh well it could be much worse, we could all contract syphilis or some odorous foot disease. They'll get it but it may take a while ...

I disagree. MH was far more fun, playable, and balanced that HoI. In fact, one could actually FINISH a game within a year, which gives it a huge leg up on HoI and its "offspring."

Great effort was placed into designing mechanics that reflect real world functions like economics (in addition to combat).
To call it a "poor man's" anything is, IMHO, unfair. I believe the intent was to establish a franchise that stands on its own, like Axis & Allies and Strategic Command.

AFA the release of MHII, I could give you the reasons why the decision was made, but it would just sound like I was making excuses, and we don't want to go down that road. Instead, we are working as hard as we can busting our --somewhat bruised-- balls to continue improving the game and making it something that we and our fans can be happy with.

Status : Offline | I have spoken to the devs at length regarding the latest patch and they tell me that largely the consensus on their forums from gamers is that the tone of the conversation has shifted from "the game isn't stable" to much smaller issues. A major patch was released (see the front page; I posted the full release notes late last night) and they feel like they're well on the way to seeing this game emerge as it has always been intended.
One of the most interesting and, to me, exciting things is that Making History II has a number of "non-traditional" aspects to the game. Money supply and the economy are modeled in unique and realistic ways courtesy of extensive help from Niall Ferguson. There are some other aspects to the game that also look interesting, and I'm working with the devs to bring more of those aspects to light so you guys can read about them.
We're holding off on a review of the game until it's stable. A review at this point seems superfluous: by now most gamers and reviews have been published discussing the instability. It's no secret. So we want to see what happens in another patch or two. By then Making History II should have the major bugs squished and many of the minor ones. Then we'll give it a hard look and let you know what we think.

Latest 1.10 patch just came out yesterday, so probably gonna take a bit for people to figure it out. At this point, I'm going to hold off a bit and let a few more patches come out before I jump back in. I just have too many other things going on right now that will prevent me from really diving in at this point, especially from a testing perspective. Best source of information is at the official forums. The developer has been releasing a patch a week and plans to continue with that approach in the foreseeable future so they are working at it.

Status : Offline | [font="arial"][size="2"] Thanks, Longblade! It’s been quite a busy past few weeks. The improvement in the game has been very significant in performance, gameplay and features. Anyone who wants to check out the game at no risk can now get the free demo from our site or a bunch of others. The demo is the complete game, but it limits players to one scenario and 50 turns. [size="2"]
[font="arial"][size="2"] [size="2"]
[font="arial"][size="2"]The demo also has the auto-updater, so it will update to the latest and greatest version of the game. 1.0.10 was a huge update, and we’ve released two more in just the last couple days! We felt it was critical to get a demo out because we want people to see how far the game has come in a very short time. The game in that Gamespot review no longer exists. And we aren’t slowing down. The new multiplayer service is coming soon, too.

Does the Impulse version auto-update, because it seems that haven't really updated much at all!

When you start the game, do you get an update notice? What versions (game and launcher) are you currently using?

Quick question, is there any way to change the view angle of the map?

Hi SoM,
Pretty sure its Home and End, if not its Ins/Del or PgUp/PgDn
