If you're curious about the game system, just look at the board games. I have one from the series (A Day of Heroes... Mogadishu) and it sure is a good one. Not as detailed as ASL but more playable and fun.
The unique part for me is the spotting rules. As a board game, we have 100% knowledge of where the enemy is at. But we can't shoot at them when hidden in some protective terrain even when under LOS unless we spot them. Spotting is done by doing a spotting roll so it's not automatic. There not much chart reference as well since most numbers are in the counters already.
Wonder how it will translate into PC. Will they introduce real fog of war? Or keep the board game rules?
As a point of reference, the board games go for $50 - $60. The board games don't have a lot of content. So I also wonder how many scenarios are in the PC version.

Jomni if you went back in time before Heros Of Stalingrad was just an idea, but they said it will double or tripple you estimate or it wouldnt be developed, would you have accepted ?
The reason I ask is, Ive bought many wargames, but the one that is right there in my mind all the time is steel panters waw, I bought the mega version even though a free version was already unbelievably good. and I think H.O.S. if it plays as expected will be among the best! I also await Wif same reason. and if they said SPWaW was £100 I still would of bought it if you look at all the daft games out there not wargames that sell for £30-£50, and compare a wargame will the rich historical information , then I think wargames should be higher
But You have your opinion which is probably more realistic of a price, Im just hopeing your right.

My Question is What would you pay and why?
also is there anthing else like this out there?

I still dont get why anyone would play I go you go when Combat mission introduced the far superior wego system. After wego I just cant play turn based anything without a huge break in the suspension of disbelief.

I'm not expecting this as a ground-breaking game like Steel Panthers. Steel Panters is more detailed. I expect this to be nothing more than a board game adaptation with an additional AI. The game is also infantry-centric and maps might be small. This game can be more comparable with HPS Squad Battles.
But if you like board games, Lock and Load game mechanics are interesting. It simulates infantry tactics well despite the simplification.
But I may be wrong. Maybe the developers have grander plans.

But, that doesn't mean I haven't paid more for something I really wanted and wanted as soon as it was released like Elemental:War of Magic which I paid $80 for. But, it is a Collectors edition too. It's not like BFTB that is $80 just because.
As for Heroes of Stalingrad it's one of those $40 games to me as I've just waited too long for it an I'm no longer as enthused or excited about it as I once was. I'm more interested in that Panzer Commandstfront game now.

Want is the foundation of impatience, a step without thought can be a drop without end
Dbeves: And LMFAO - didnt you just have to work battlefront into your response somewhere - you are priceless.
