Anyway I don't mind and my SH3 was bought from Steam.

Take your pick, Mr.Gregg. A digital download from Steam for $9.99 or hard copies from Amazon.com or Newegg for $9.99 (and Newegg features free shipping).

They also must consider if the Steam version can use mods properly.

Status : Offline | I bought a star force free combo of SH3 & SH2, two separate CDs, very reasonable. I think it was linked on the grey wolves site.

digital rights management. something like starforce, securom, etc... that checks to see if you own the software every time you want to play. some make you be connected to the internet so it can call in, some like starforce and securom install software on your computer. some just do a disk check which is why you will see some people ask for no disk hacks. a pain in the butt for people who own legit copies of the software as they have to keep proving they "own" the software everytime they want to use it.

Status : Offline | Thanks for the info. CptHowdy. I really prefer a disk version over a download version. Does anyone out there have the disk version running fine on Windows 7 OS? Or do you have to run it on Windows 7 compatibilty mode? On the download version can it be saved to a CD disk in case something ever happens to my computer?

I have it installed on my 64-bit Windows 7 PC, but I haven't played the game yet. It loads up just fine, but that's as far as I've gotten with it.
You might want to have a look at this thread at the SUBSIM forums.

I saw that game pack on Newegg for $10 and free shipping two days ago!
FYI

I ran the old version of SH3 on Vista just fine, after I got a 'fix' for removing Starfarce. It sounds like the new physical disc doesn't have it anymore. For $10, it's not a bad deal either.
