Hi there,           Does anyone know of any good documentaries for this era?  I remember seeing some on history television a long time ago (one being about the charge of the light brigade).  I've tried simply googling it but haven't had much success.  Can anyone make reccommendations?     Thanks!

A number of documentaries have been made, but they may be difficult to find.         I recall seeing a documentary on Napoleon's Lost Fleet - the Battle of the Nile on the History Channel once.     Also there is a series called "In the Line of Fire" that featured episodes on Trafalgar, Waterloo, and Borodino(?).     I recall another show (Battlefield mysteries?) about a ship duel between a US and Brit ships, but the name/series escapes me.     Some "overview" documentaries (artillery, firearms, snipers, etc) will sometimes dedicate a section on the Napoleonic era.         Jack Nastyface

http://www.warshows.com/Detail.bok?no=8654         This series -- I have the DVD set (Volume 1), never seen the VHS -- isn't too bad, actually.  It intercuts interviews with David Chandler (hard to go wrong there) with footage from the the Bondarchuck "War and Peace" and an occasional reenactor reading from period diaries and accounts.  The Austerlitz video is particularly good by my lights because it's narrated by Brian Blessed who is, well, a god, small "g".         Belle and Blade -- the real name of the store linked above -- also has the series Jack refers to.         There's a Battlefield Detectives on Waterloo that's got some neat business about a recreated Chateau Goumont, but not much revelatory about the battle itself.         What I'd really give money for is if someone would make available the full "Game of War" featuring Paddy Griffith et al. that the BBC aired some years ago.  That was cool:  actual military personnel playing a Waterloo kriegsspiel...all hosted by a lovely female anchor.         Best,         Jim     "Cyrano"     :/7)
