Reaching the end of the first book, having just bought the second and looking forward to the HBO series, the announcement of a July 12th publication date for Dances with Dragons made me giddy.

I'm glad my character uses a shield because I may be taking a bashing here soon.

Awesome series. Looking forward to the tv version. I'm just sorry it has delayed the books so long.

1205 North Post Oak Rd.     Houston, Tx. 77055           Cashiers cheque will do.           $1500.00 should cover first printing.           Thank you.

Anyway... Yeah it's great he is helping out making the tv series and yadda yadda. But i really wish he would focus on the books since no matter how well the series is done it will be inferior to a good book. Also if the bastard have the nerve to croak before the books are finished the tv series will never finish... Fattar ni capiche?

Finally! I was beginning to wonder if I would live long enough to see it happen. Thanks for the heads-up, Gus. [sm=00000436.gif]

So how many more to go before the series is complete? I am up to the third one, but kind of lost interest when it appeared Martin might not actually finish them.

Is this upcoming one book five? If so I think there are to be two more after that.

Yes, it's book five, and I've heard seven books as well. Hopefully the last two won't take as long....

I really want to read this series and I look longinly at the books at the local library but when I read that he is 62, not in the best of shape, took eleven years to complete the last two books and there are two more books to go until the series ends, I thought I would wait and see if its ever completed.           (That is an impressive run on sentence)

I want them all now!!11!         I remember reading the first book and he actually killed off a character and i thought wth, that's unusual. Then he killed another and i said to myself he can't kill off THAT character and i was wrong, over and over again... Awesome series, even if A feast for crows where somewhat sucky.

Holy sweet Jesus!  What a WONDERFUL DAY!!!  Dance with Dragons!  Dance with Dragons!  Dance with Dragons!  YAy!  Yay!  Yay!  Yay!  I CAN'T WAIT!!!!  It's my understanding from his livejournal site, he has a significant portion of the sixth book written already.  And as an added bonus, for all my friends who cannot await the HBO series, here is the newest trailer for the series.         http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/03/game-of-thrones-new-trailer/         Enjoy!

And Schlomo wouldn't give a rat's ass about whether it was platemail or email.-LB about Gus

Wow... I was gonna carp at how they propably make too few episodes. But first season appears to be split into 10. Assuming they are about 45-60 minutes that should be acceptable. Assuming s01 is book one of course. Still, it's gonna suck compared to the books.

Actually, word is that the first season is remarkably true to the novel, which isn't surprising considering how much control and input GRRM has over the series. And each season is supposed to cover a single novel.

I guess that is better than expected. Then again, if the series was going to be half arsed why would they need G RR Martin?!

My one complaint about his novels is the number of characters. Now I was almost in the teen Jeapordy tournament once because I can remember a lot of stupid crap, but the number of characters in his books is almost overwhelming. Im constantly going to the back of the books all the time to figure out who the hell Martin is talking about. Do I have onset alzheimers at age 38, or do you guys run into the same problem as well.
