For example if you attack a city and the artillery fires on you then a information box will pop up explaining defensive fire and support units.         I signed up for a multiplayer account. Never tried it but I hear Slitherine has a great multiplayer function.         The big thing for me is the scenario editor. In a word, AWESOME! I have never edited any kind of scenario for any game before and in about 5 minutes I had thrown together a working map. Just choose whatever tileset you want and drop it onto the hex. It seems like you can pretty much make any kind of scenario you want and you don't need to know a single damn thing about programming to do it! That should extend the life of the game a lot if there's some kind of system in place for uploading and downloading user created scenarios!
We are working on a user content system as we speak, for use in games like PC and BA.  But there are some design elements we want to get right, like how to enable the community to rank and validate content, and be sure that they can find the kind of maps etc that they are looking for.  As you say - the editor is very easy to use, and so we expect lots of community content
.           Cheers           Pip

My memory faails me. In the original PG, could the 88 be switched between AA and AT?

No, in PG this feature did not exist.

Can it be switched in PC??? If so, that's great!  Does anyone know if it required a change of ammo historically?

It can be switched in PzC Historically of course AA ammo is a bit different, basically it was an exploding shell with altitude or time/percussion fuse. Proximity fuses were an American invention and well kept secret, only at the end of the War the Germans discovered why the Allies were so effective. AT ammo is basically shape charged shells to concentrate energy and penetrate the thick armour and explode inside the tank.

While it is good to hear that ammo type can be switched in Panzer Corps (although I have not had occasion to use this capability as yet – only finished the Polish campaign so far), I am concerned at the explanation of AT ammo provided by Lord Z: AT ammo is basically shape charged shells to concentrate energy and penetrate the thick armour and explode inside the tank. Uh, not really. While it is certainly true that AA and AT rounds are different, your explanation of AT ammo is, well, almost completely misleading or flawed/incorrect. There were indeed a number of WW II weapons that employed shaped charges (low velocity large caliber cannon, panzerfauts and schrecks as well as bazookas) but the 88 was not one of them. So to say that AT ammo is basically shape charged shells is misleading at best, and if you include the rest of the description simply wrong. Why? Because shaped charges do NOT explode inside the tank – they are designed to explode OUTSIDE the tank, creating a small and powerful blasting force which would PENETRATE the tank and send a stream of high velocity 'stuff' (not sure what the best technical term for this would be – magma?) into the tank, which MIGHT result in an explosion if this stream encountered material that could be transformed into an explosion. (ammo or fuel were the most common sources of tank explosions – which is why ammo contained in water jackets started to be introduced in late design tanks, or for many ammo rounds being stored very low in some tanks, such as under the turret floor). The AT round used most commonly by the 88 was an APCBC (Armour Piercing Capped Ballistic Cap) shell. This round was mostly solid metal shaped to best penetrate armour and then bounce around inside a tank . There was a small explosive component – but for a tank to explode it generally needed the round to encounter material that would cause an explosion (again, ammo or fuel being the most common). The amount of explosive filler in an 88 AP round was reduced as the war went on, so that the round had a better chance of penetrating. Western guns, such as the 17 Pounder, gained much of their enhanced performance from using an APDS (Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot) round, which had a small tungsten core surrounded by the larger shell, which fell away after the round left the barrel, leaving a small high speed and very dense core to continue to the target with an increased chance of penetrating. (In other words the destructive effect of the 17 Pounders solid round came completely from kinetic energy, not from any explosive filler).

While it is good to hear that ammo type can be switched in Panzer Corps >>> Where did I say it was a feature? You can switch certain types like the 88 between AT and AA mode, will cost you a turn though. Not the ammo, effect is the same of course Thanks for the explanation about the AT of the 88!
