Thanks for the interest Gents.  All of my rifles and pistols are original and work.  The machineguns and sub-machineguns are original, but are display pieces and do not function.  Too expensive for me to buy fully functioning machine weapons.  Though it is possible for one with limitless pockets to own these machine weapons in weapons friendly Texas.  The non-functioning machine weapons are fine for me.  I get the feel, play with them and they are fun to research and picture.       I used to reload for the bolt action and semi-automatic weapons, in my collection, but my attention is drawn elsewhere these days.  I'll get some pics of my messy, "war room" as I call it someday.  Let me clean it up some.  haha      Mixing wargaming, reading, writing, collecting, shooting, modeling, talking on wargamer.com....is enlightening and a bunch of fun.  I appreciate all the interest and will post more pics.       Azzurri, the avatar is an Italian Bersagliere in North Africa during WWII.  They were elite light infantry and performed quite well in all theaters during the war.  Thanks for your interest bud.  I like your avatar as well!  Did you draw that?     I look forward to seeing items from other collections.  Thanks Gus!       In Friendly Scholarship and Fun, Arditi

Being from Texas and a historic gun collector and having an Italian avatar I see you responsible for bringing peace to these boards. Is that irony?

I'm glad my character uses a shield because I may be taking a bashing here soon.

Words appreciated Gents!  Here is an enlisted Heitai(Japanese soldier) of the Chinese theater of operations as he wears a warmer wool tunic.  His pants are missing...don't look.
He has a "yosegaki" or personal flag that would have been given him by family members or possibly co-workers before he went off for training.  It would have had acceptable national slogans exhorting him to fight for country, etc.  These were kept on firearms(even during combat) or within the tunic or under the helmet as well.  Many brought back by US servicemen will have body fluids on them for obvious reasons.  This one does as well.  He wears the Type 30 helmet.  Many times the solft cover cap would have been worn under the helmet for comfort.  He has a Type-38 rifle and the ammo pouches at the front of his belt.  His haversack(for food, techo and personal items) is slung to his left.  His also has a gasmask slung across him.  All the items are original.  Interesting colors I think.  The tunic used for the tropical regions was light-weight and holes under the arms to promote cooling.  Tough hombres to come up against in the Pacific.  Hope you like him.  Is there a way to load more than one pic to a post?       Best Regards, Arditi

No kidding! Smells like a plant to me! Heh, welcome to the board, Arditi. Whereabouts in the Republic of West Texas are you anyway? I'm a native Houstonian,  I think I've been everywhere in Texas at least once.

You got it Stophro!  Grenades, Italian...all three are model 35, but differing names and makers.  From the left...S.R.C.M., OTO and Breda.  The Common Wealth called them Red Devils; during cleanup, some would not have exploded until picked up with nasty results.  The SRCM was used up through the 80's I am told.  The Italian tunic had pockets at the back, of the tunic, to carry the grenades in until needed.       Steelgrave, always good to meet a fellow Texan.  I'm from dusty and hot Lubbock.  Houston has that humidity that kills me.  We have the dry heat.       Best to all, Arditi

It looks like either an ammo crate or ration crate from the North African campaign in WW2.  I can't identify it's nationality however.

Good guess Gents!  Heathen, you are a machine!  It is an Italian anti-tank mine.  The allies had difficulty locating them due to it being made of wood primarily.           I appreciate the welcome and words Marine! 0331...mortar man?  0311, was basic infantryman if my old memory still works.  No?  I was 1811; on the old M60A1 series of tanks.  I'll bet you have some stories to tell.  Marines always do.  Appreciated.            Here is the interior of the Italian anti-tank mine.       Best, Arditi

0331 = machine gunner...0311 is rifleman.  You should connect with Bayonetbrant and BBoyer.  Brant was armored cav if I recall, and Boyer was armor.  Both US Army. S/F

Italian soldier, Russian front?  The machine pistol he's carrying on his back is a Beretta Modello 38/42.   EDIT:  No upon closer inspection it's a Modello 38A.

Yeah, WW2 weapons, especially personal weapons and tanks, are my specialty.  I could tell from the shape and orientation of the vertical slits in the muzzle.

Thanks for the heads-up Jarhead.  I hope to talk with them someday.         Good tag W8taminute!  Italian officer wearing the double-breasted coat of the officer issue.  Notice rank on the cuffs.  Marcase, M35 gasmask, M38a sub-machinegun, M33 helmet..  In this case he is wearing enlisted ankle boots and puttees as was common for junior offcers in the field.  He also is armed with a small caliber Beretta pistol.       Thanks for playing.        Best, Arditi

Hi Big Country,       That is a good guess as it is about the size of a Japanese compass.  Another guess?          Best, Arditi
