Murphy's Law of DIY (Do-It-Yourself )
Any project will require at least two journeys to the hardware shop.           If you need more than one item (pair, four, etc) the probability that one will be damaged or the wrong colour is directly proportional to the desire or need of the object.           You always need more paint.           You never have enough nails, screws or glue.           The likelihood that you will complete a weekend project before the end of the weekend decreases with when you actually start the project.      Therefore: Any plumbing project started after 4pm on Sunday will require an emergency call to the plumber to get the water running again.           To estimate the amount of time needed to complete a project: estimate the amount of time needed, multiply by two and use the next highest unit. Hence: A one hour task will take at least two days to complete.                       --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     Squad Battles Falklands for sure.     Mount and Blade Warband with PoP mod highly likely.           And no I couldn't think of anything more witty for the thread title.

I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpations - James Madison

This weekend my project is to relocate temporarily to escape a plumbing operation in my apartment. After that's done, I'll have better time to play, and we can setup a LAN with my buddy. [sm=icon_handshake.gif] Tonight, after I've done packing and all I'll probably get some time in Mass Effect 2 and possibly Dungeons of Dredmor.

We are moving during this month. Painting was the last 2 weekends...i am glad it's done.         Gaming:         Master of Orion III...i am 300 turns in my Human game, aiming for an alliance victory. Due to my focus on social sciences, i am fairly well with 90% of the races...there are only 2 who still bug me: the Antarans (which i could deal with my superdreaghnouts i believe) but mostly the stupid Silicoids (at war with everyone) with their 140 colonies (i am number one in ranking but they have got the biggest empire). I am afraid, i'll have to take them out before i can claim victory but this is going to take a long time....           I have 2 X (a third one is under way) and am still the president of the Senate.         Armada 2526...mostly pbem (got a couple of new games here...)         Sword of the Stars: playing as the human in of the scenarios (can't recall the name).

Games i play now:

Armada 2526 Supernova, Commander: the Great War, Heroes of Annihilitated Empires, The Great Battles Collection

I too have just moved - although mine was a few states - anyway I'll be unpacking and getting settled in.  I'm hoping to get the computer (at home) up and running.  As for which game...the whole move I've been thinking about my last game of WWI Gold - it is that time of the year after all.

I really felt like a RPG but my gig is only just in the 21st century so I bought  Avadon - The Black Fortress. I umed and arrged about the $25 ticket price but it got in under the supporting indie developers exception. Turns out to be a really good game. I will restart it this weekend since as always you want to do things different once you understand the game mechanics, which in all fairness are quite standard. I admired the help when something new is encountered, its not a "look in the reference manual game". I have noticed I have become very lazy when starting a new game and expect to be able to play it straight away. So anyway thats the game I will continue with this weekend when I have time.

I just re-installed Rise of Nations Gold, and will be diving back into that, as well as beating my head against a tough battle in Witcher 2.

I'm going to continue on with Panzer Corps and try my hand at Combat Mission Normandy. I may also fire up some CC:The Longest Day. I haven't played them since the pathfinding mega updates. Murphy's Law of DIY - I to have experienced this, but what happens to me more is when I decide to do something myself, I never have the frickin' tool for it. I've gotten two tool sets over the past couple of years and still don't have what I need to do simple home repairs. *sigh*

Not much on the gaming front this weekend will be pretty tight with events and stuff. I might play some CMBN PBEM turns and some ME 1 maybe.

I'm also in the middle of moving.  No games at all is my best guess for my gaming this weekend.

Work all weekend and for the next 7 days. I'm not sure if I'll get a lot of gaming in but if I do it'll be either Panzer Corps or maybe some iRacing if I feel inclined to clean my desk!

First up (as usual) is Birth of the Federation.  I completed my Klingon campaign on Wednesday, and have since started a new game as the Federation.  This time, I've bumped up the other four powers to Civilization Level 2 (I'm at Level 1) to see if that will make things a bit more even for the AI, but without making diplomacy a complete farce (which is what always happens whenever I play on Impossible difficulty).            I've also started a Norwegian campaign in Medieval Total War/Viking Invasion - XL Mod (Early period, Hard difficulty).  I've got a few longships in the surrounding waters to get my trade going, and am about to make war on the Swedes.  Their rich lands are badly need to support my future conquests, as well as being a necessary first step in creating a Greater Scandanavian kingdom.            In addition, I've gotten back into my Hoon Yon campaign in Armada 2526 Supernova.  I recently colonized a cluster of almost-absurdly valuable star systems to my west, and am currently engaged in a bit of a slap-fight with the Humans over them.  Happily, both the Cryokon and Ancient Race of Machines (with whom I have defensive alliances) have just declared war on the Humans as well, so I suspect those obnoxious pink-skins will back off shortly.  [
]            Finally, I've been continuing my Oda campaign in Shogun Total War: Warlords Edition.  Quite frankly, things are not going very well: I'm getting squeezed between the Imagawa to the east and the Mori (who are easily the most powerful clan at the moment) to the west, and it's all I can do simply to hold onto what I have.  As it is, I've actually had to withdraw from a couple of my less valuable provinces in order to protect my lands that are actually worth something.  I have by no means given up yet, but things aren't looking too good!

If I might interject my own response to this question, I definitely prefer Armada 2526
especially with the Supernova expansion).              Of course, it also depends somewhat on what you're looking for:  If you want a 4x game that's focused more on eye-candy battles and robust ship design, then Sword of the Stars is by far the better choice.  If you want a 4x title that focuses more on everything else (colony development, diplomacy, economy/trade, replayability, etc.), then I'd go with Armada 2526.

I agree with Martok. I play SotS mostly for the battles which are great fun. The empire/diplomacy of SotS isn't enough for me (It seems SotS II will give more). Armada 2526 with Supernova has got all i am looking for in a 4x game set in space. So basically, if i want to play 5 hours straight, i'll choose Armade 2526 Supernova without a doubt.

Games i play now:

Armada 2526 Supernova, Commander: the Great War, Heroes of Annihilitated Empires, The Great Battles Collection

I will probably be spending most of the weekend playing World of Tanks since it is the game's 1st birthday and a lot of surprises have been gifted to WoT subscribers. I splurged and bought my first Premium tank today (no, not a Löwe!), a Tier II PzKpfw 38H735. I am having a lot of fun with it. I also purchased a Tier V U.S. T1 Heavy tank in order to begin the U.S. heavy tank line. When I get bored with WoT I will probably resort to playing Panzer Corps and a few oldies like Civ4.

Going back to Mon-Fri work schedule sucks all kinds of balls.  I guess I'll do the same as GB and play WoT for a bit.
