I'm looking for a good Total War mod. Ive never done a mod on their games. Is it much better than the original?

For KevlarSocks: Rome: Europa Barbarorum, the God of game mods, takes an utterly broken and challengeless game and makes it amazing (still challengeless though sadly, once you learn to build your economy and aren't bordered by the AI controlled Romans). EB is the only RTW mod I've stuck with and will happily babysit the AI in, but I've heard both Roma Surrectum and Darthmod are great as well. M2TW w/o Kingdoms Go with either The Long Road (the reason M2 originally didn't get sold on Ebay within 2 weeks for me), or an older version of either Broken Crescent or Deus lo Vult (Sadomasochism required, though the older versions required less of such and were much more fun). M2 w/ Kingdoms The Last Kingdom- so far, EB for medieval 2.  The most fun I've had since Medieval TW 1.  If you have M2 and Kingdoms, stop reading this now and try it!  My half drunken, caffeine fueled rambling will (sadly) be here forever, but this mod cannot wait!  One of the only M2 mods using XAI 4.0 which is AMAZING and turns the game back into Medieval 1, AI-Wise. Chivalry II- Amazing mod, slower and different from the vanilla game, not so hard once you get a grip on the more in depth economy. The 4.0 version of this mod should be out soon (who knows), might as well wait for it. Broken Crescent- later versions, also fun, not as impressive AI as The Last Kingdom but still good, focused on the crusades, middle east and eastern roman empire. Deus Lo Vult- Later versions, if your idea of fun in spare time is to strip down naked, push nails through a belt, and whip yourself with it for fun,  you will love the latest iterations of this mod.  AI is still pretty stupid, sadly.

I agree with Martok. I play SotS mostly for the battles which are great fun. The empire/diplomacy of SotS isn't enough for me (It seems SotS II will give more). Armada 2526 with Supernova has got all i am looking for in a 4x game set in space. So basically, if i want to play 5 hours straight, i'll choose Armade 2526 Supernova without a doubt.              Thanks Anguille!

I'll be continuing my campaign in Distant Worlds. Since it is august, I also plan on playing some WWI Gold and Jutland. The discounts on both Forzen Synapse and SoW: Gettysburg are really tempting too... @KevlarSocks: I second the vote for Europa Barbarorum. If you can get past the bad AI, which is no fault of the mod, its one of the best mods for any game IMO. The shear depth of historical research that went into it makes it worth a least a try. Kushan

Kevlar, for rome I would recommend Roma Surrectum 2. I love the legion recruiting system and the mod team updated the graphics and resolution. Not quite M2TW levels but close (tactical battles that is...not campaign map)

Kevlar: As a side note, if you happen to have the (also blasphemous and horrible out of the box) Alexander add on for Rome, there's an "Alex.exe" mod for EB, and also Roma Surrectum and  probably others that magically fixes a lot of the idiotic stratetgic AI. If you try out EB, add in the Darth Formations mod as well to improve the battle AI a little. I am far too sadly and pathetically intoxicated to link to these right now, but if you need either please either respond here or pm me and I'll be glad to respond once I've finished off coffee # 100 (in front of me, and too late unless it's a weekened which thank the gods it is!) here, or you can find such mods in the EB "Mod" forum under the "forum" section at "www.europabarbarorum.com". Roma Surrectum has an Alex.exe mod as well if I recall correctly, can't direct you straight to it though.

I think it will be some Settlers 7, Terriaria and a newly bought version of Space Rangers 2 Reboot.

Copied the RTW folder to a new location. Installed Roma Surrectum II. It seems to be an impressive amount of work by artists, programmers and historians. Started the campaign as Rome. Ack! 5 star Hannibal has a massive army right beside my 1 star general. What a way to start.[sm=samurai.gif] Wish me luck.

You're not supposed to beat Hannibal in the first battle. But well played if you do it on hard.

Terraria- I've had four battles against Boss #1: The Eye of Cthulhu and lost  3, the 4th time I was on a roll but dawn broke, when you battle the Eye you have to do it fast, nice thing is you can just focus on it, and the zombies aren't bugging you in the battle.  By the way they did some updates, and they're pretty cool. A few more bad guys, some new stuff in the way of decor for your house. Civ V- I grabbed the Korea/Ancient Wonders DLC. Not bad at all. I like the Ancient Wonders scenario. I haven't tried the Korea one yet but it's has the Samurai Invasion of Korea scenario, and the units are the hwanch'a artillery unit, and the turtle ship.
