http://www.soldak.com/Drox-Operative/Overview.html
"starship action RPG with warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic, evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer."
Now I like the sound of this baby..
It's great to see Soldak making something new. Although Din's Curse can get repetitive, it's a quality indie action-rpg and I hope they do as well or better with this scifi ship-based one. Thanks for the heads up! Wonder when they're aiming to finish.

He says they're looking to release early 2012, but puts the caveat that "it will be ready when its finished".
Love this company! Have been looking forward to this game since the first info came out, and I will certainly pick this up as soon as the beta comes out. That said, the name worries me. It doesn't grab the attention imho. I hope that he gets enough sales from the publicity he will get due to his previous games, as I for one want to see this company flourish.
As far as indies goes, Soldak has pretty good word of mouth. I'm sure they'll do fine with this one. I'll give them some more of my money when it's available.
Good to see you post over here Steven, I think you'll find theres probably a lot of support for Soldak here - and we're anticipating the new game very much. Any tidbits you can post up about the progress made on Drox would be very much appreciated and salivated over
Bought it, installed it and died....maybe I should pay attention to the help tutorial....
Loooks really great. The textures seems more hires than dins, I really like the look of it. Steve and co really make great games, can' t wait to play more

How long has this game been in development? It needs Windows 98? GeForce 3? No Windows 7 support?

It very much reminds me of Space Rangers 2. Only real-time instead of turn-based and quite Din's Curse flavored.
The initial start was a bit slow going (literally) but after a few levels, and some better loot to equip, it became more interesting. Having all those AIs playing a big 4x type strategy game on a higher level makes me wonder at what all could be done in such a setting.
This is a great little time waster. Hooked me most of the day and night. Something irresistible about grinding away at leveling up, and you wiill grind away. I haven't found a fast lane, but that means you're earning it.
1. Gates should not require clicking to go through them
2. Autofire for one of the weapons would be nice, and save a lot of clickage.
3. The game would be better with gates, just all the planets in one multistar system, like Firefly.
4. Variable thrust. Sometimes you want to travel at a speed inbetween zero and max.
5. Controller support.
6. Better physics, ships should keep going at the speed you turned the thrust off, slowing down would invove fliping the ship. Also a planet's gravity should have a big effect on the ship.
Idea for expansion, battles on a planet that would be like one level of Din's Curse with guns, psionics and other high-tech stuff.
