Status : Online | I picked hybrid eventhough I would rather call myself a turn based fanatic. Why? Well when a game is good it's good no matter what type of game it is.
Now I truly enjoy Gary Grigsby's deep and heavy turn based games but at the same time I play Medal of Honor: Allied Assault plus the expansion like crazy. Also when a good RTS like Close Combat or the different Blitzkrieg shows up I play them too.

Status : Online | Well I of course picked Turn Based (is anyone actually shocked hehe).
I have played Close Combat (a few times)
I have even watched some FPS (and thought they looked good)
I have watched some RTS games played by fans and noticed they are usually well enough amusement for those that like them.
But in the end, the only games that have ever gotten me to play them sufficient that I actually give a hoot to play them often, are turn based games.
Well considering, if my computer broke down, my only complaint, would be it would be hard to chat online with friends. And that I would essentially just go back to playing board games which are most assuredly turn based, I suppose I don't rate the term hybrid.

Well, in Jagged Alliance you have turn based combat and real time non-combat and itīs cool.
I mean JA is real nice strategy (probably more tactical) game and with the dynamic campaign you just can play it a houndred times and itīs still fun.

Spwaw and H2H takes most of my free time.
For shooting games, Operation Flashpoint + resistance is the greatest one IMO Now I'm waiting for Flashpoint 2.
And one funny thing, nowadays I'm playing old cool Sierra's "Red Baron" Yes that's the old one, I'm sure some of you guys remember that?
Fortunately I have 256 colour version, 16 colour version sucks:rolleyes: .
And that works fine with XP2000, GeForce4 and XP Pro, even the sounds works correctly with help of VDMSound program.

Im a hybrid i guess, i like RTS games, i can suspend all sense of reality just to watch pretty things explode and feel the euphoria of victory. I also play Flashpoint+resistance, and Day of Defeat a lot. Turn based i can enjoy, the Civ series and also your grognard games intrest me. It does bother me that you left out the sims though. Mech sims, flight sims, ship sims, sub sims, all sims are their own genre. I like them too.

Yes, mr_clark ! I love that game too.
I play all types, but am more inclined to either FPS such as Half-Life, Deus Ex, Splinter Cell or turn-based. As for RTS, could never get into Age of Empires, Close Combat and HoI was the last straw. But there are some RTS games I have enjoyed such as Imperialism and Europa Universalis. And I really liked Transport Tycoon for some reason.
I also play both on the PC and the consoles. On the latter, it's pretty much FPS or driving games.

Oddly enough I don't mind an occasional tank driving sim.
It would likely skew the poll to add it at this point though.

Also, Total War is awesome turn based, yet bolsters RTS battles! Jagged Alliance and Fallout Tactics also stirs it up. Then there are the classics SP, CC, Camp. Series, SC, TOAW, etc. . . Can't forget the strats: CIV's, RoN, AOE2. Gotta have the fantasies:AoW 1 & 2, Heroes of M&M 4. Last but not least, the always hated, never duplicated globals: Superpower, HOI.

Mostly turned-based games, but I will play some RT games if they appeal to me, such as CC, MTW. . .
BTW Alice, I still play Unreal Tournament - it's a blast - open and free-wheeling - just my type of play. . .

RPG; Icewind Dale, Fallout 1&2
Simulation; Porsche Unleashed, Jane's WW2 Fighters
M.U.L.E. on Commodore64 (still works!!)

Steel Panthers WW2, MBT & WAW are probably my favs, but when I need a break I like FPS like Op flashpoint and MOH Spearpoint.
Also absolutely loved the Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dales series, but after running through each 10 times, I'll probably never go back.
Also like the flight sims like Il Sturmovick.
