In my opinion, a game's soundtrack or even opening video can inspire you to want to play the game...who has never been sitting there at the computer, staring at the monitor saying, "what should I play today?" and, upon clicking on the icon and hearing the intro music was inspired to jump in and just play?
Maybe it's just me.
I will nominate two of my favorites. Please nominate yours, with a youtube link in available (you can find almost anything on youtube!)
This is the one that inspired this thread for me- Take Command: Second Manassas...I booted this up again today and was just blown away by the excellent, totally inspiring music: (video sucks, though)

And my second nomination is Medieval Total War 2: Crusades menu music. Man alive but this music kicks total ass:

(and for kicks and giggles, if you want to see a video I put together to that music from debris on my HD, click this link: http://vimeo.com/9433794 )
Now, post your favorites...
"I am always fondling my nut sack, just to be safe. " - bboyer66
"It's like Mount and Blade got together with Total War and had a game baby." - Bison36 on Real Warfare Northern Crusades
Man alive. I'm leaving my PC for an unknown period of time, and I need to have two game (for sure) working on my laptop to last me for infinity...M2TW and WiTP:AE. That's it. Great, great games!
Dead on! I also thoroughly enjoyed the music for Diablo 2. I loved the soundtrack so much that I burned it to disc and would listen to it outside the game. I know... Weird. I also enjoyed the music for a little D2 clone called Dark Stone. After finishing the game, you unlock a video of a recurring song from the game that an actual band had recorded with a female vocalist.
A composer is a guy who goes around forcing his will on unsuspecting air molecules, often with the assistance of unsuspecting musicians. -- Frank Zappa
This isn't quite fair, as it isn't incorporated into a version of Falcon yet, but I anticiptate it soon...if in no other version than my own. This song totally freaking rocks.

Homeworld's soundtrack in definitely amazing (I'd forgotten just how much!). Still, my favorite has to be either Star Trek: Klingon Academy or the original Shogun Total War. The music in those two are games are epic.
"I happen to believe that both parties deserve a good scouring with a metal brush and sent to their room without reelection" - Steelgrave
I like how they really try to make the soundtrack to be as immersive as possible. Pharaoh/Cleopatra's soundtrack was great too.
Max: "Let's hit him in the head with a mallet! That will cure his amnesia!" Sam: "You always say that!" Max: "Yeah but it will REALLY WORK this time!!!"
Without a doubt the Medal of Honor soundtrack from the 1999 version.
My favorite song being the "Road to Berlin" which actually won some awards. Has a cool Cole Porter feel to it. If you close your eyes you can just picture yourself at some nightclub during WWII.
Master of Orion II - "Galactic Theme 3" by Laura Barratt.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - "Wings of Kynareth" by Jeremy Soule
And from an overrated console JRPG, a small gem called "World to be Born" by Yasunori Mitsuda. I never actually heard it in game, but when I play it I imagine starships leaving orbit for unknown worlds.
