According to an August WSJ preview article, the Paramount-licensed game allows players to "work their way up from low-level members of 1930s-era gangs into mafia kingpins by stealing money, burning down buildings and committing other crimes," with an emphasis on "synchronous' game-playing – live combat between players," a departure from the Facebook game "Mafia Wars." http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2011/08/26/the-godfather-brings-the-cannoli-to-facebook/
I only discovered it and started playing yesterday afternoon. The game opens with a more or less tutorial mode in which your consigliere guides you through some initial steps like selecting a character name and mob family, and building buildings, researching crime skills and training gang members (thugs, etc.). After a couple of levels up it suggests you form or join a "crew"; and that's as far as I've gotten. So far it seems interesting, but I'm still under an initial 7-day "protection" under which I can't be attacked. I guess in a week all bets will be off!
I'd be interested to hear if any of "youse guys" have started into this one yet and get the gouge from the more experienced MMORPG players among you...

When I hear The Godfather: Five Families at first time, my reaction is: it is a film that I enjoy and watched a couple of times and recommend my friends to watch.
