Any news on the new patch?

I posted this on their official forums, on my thoughts on the matter.

I have certainly learned my lesson with this game and company, can't say I will ever purchase anything from them again.  Way too long for getting a patch out and continued promises it is just right around the corner.  Its too bad since there was some positive things about it, but I judge my purchases as much on the service provided by the developer as the game itself.

It was given me finally the permission to speak about this; 1C and Unicorn broke at December (for different point of views regarding the future and the marketing done for the game) so the game rights remains to 1C, Unicorn develop patchs only at payment for the single patch: but actually they are developing Masters of the broken World which will be the main economically entry for this year for the studio, being RW2 rights in 1C hands. 1C after some month asked to proceed with 226 patch but Unicorn actually is full (2 people is the studio) with Masters, so cannot complete the patch at the present (partially is done but is a big improvement patch which modify also the engine with the same version used for masters, and there are some issues to corrects). The patch is scheduled but Masters has the priority for the months just to this fall, mainly because Unicorn has not the resources to follow both at the same time.

Wow... Really surprised they kept this from everyone as they kept saying the patch was close.  I'll certainly be staying away from both the publisher and developer from now on.  Lesson learned.

Unicorn cannot told to anyone because there can be legal problems for them just to conclusion of a agreement, also if this signify have the face on the line for months. They proposed to continue by themself with the game ( which at December apparently resulted don't have sold well on steam) giving to 1C royalties but 1c refuse, so they passed to Masters because they have to survive.

These are the declaration of 1C forum, but in effect the patch was close to release some time ago (they received at january-February the ok for proceed with 226 from 1C), with the many improvements derived from the new engine of Masters (and some of my mod changes), but happened some issues with the new engine applied to old game, only that with Masters near to the beta they have not the time necessary to correct them soon

I hope the patch eventually gets out.

We all know how these things can get left behind in the rush for new income (new releases).

Masters is not a 1C game, but supported by Snowbird (ex Snowberry) which has more concern for strategy games; my hope is that 1C at the end will give up the right to Unicorn so that the game can be supported by  a publisher which invest truly in strategy

I've not given up on a new patch yet.  But sounds like such a long delay could be deadly to it's future release.

The game is quite playable for me, right now, especially with Mitra's mod.  But some people are still having a crashing issue.  And I also think it needs some more refinements, like Mitra's changes, and it really needs extra gameplay added for the other factions, along with more units and general 'stuff'.

Theoretically masters goes out at october, if the beta  at August help to solve the bigger part of problems, I think Unicorn will be free to complete the patch before the end of year.

Which at that point (a year after the game has been released) is pretty pointless for a game like this that probably did not sell that well in the first place.  I would be stunned and shocked if the patch ever gets released since it doesn't seem to make much sense after such long time has elapsed.

No I think they going to release it anyway, the idea to release at least a final patch it was always in the Unicorn intention also after they broke with 1C, the ain factor is that little studios cannot permit to do what they want with the time and money they have. Perahps after they going to do anohter project similar but with competly new content and historical period. THe main problem is to find a good publisher.

Well, even if they do, waiting until a year later still doesn't make sense and I am guessing most people will have moved on by then....but to each their own.

Just curious, are you affiliated with the publisher and/or developer?  It seems like you do a lot of speaking on their behalf versus anyone "official" commenting on anything.

No, i'm only a skype friend with the Unicorn lead programmer, and I helped him giving around information about his games, because 1C didn't make marketing at all

I get the impression that 1C doesn't do much of anything, as a publisher.  Including support for updates.
