(CNN) -- You've heard of snakes on a plane, now here come bugs on a plane.

A North Carolina couple is suing AirTran Airways, alleging that cockroaches crawled out of air vents and overhead carry-on bins during a flight from Charlotte to Houston in September, CNN affiliate WCNC reported.

Attorney Harry Marsh and his fiancé Kaitlin Rush say the insects appeared soon after takeoff, and when Marsh pointed them out to flight attendants, they did nothing to help. "These roaches and other pests caused great distress to a number of passengers throughout the flight," the complaint states.

Yeah, I guess that I'd be kinda disturbed if a cockroach crawled out of an air vent above me on a flight.  But I'd bolt out of my seat if it was a spider.

It would gross me out too but is that really a reason to sue?

I'm glad my character uses a shield because I may be taking a bashing here soon.

It's as good a reason as getting a cup of hot coffee (didn't some douchebag sue McDonald's because their coffee was really hot??!!).  The only difference is that most mortals expect their coffee to be hot, whereas most of us don't expect roach-rain in a plane!!!

I think I'd be more sympathetic if those had been June bugs (which are very big and can fly) rather than wimpy little cockroaches (which don't do much more than scurry around).

I've seen some big cockroaches just crossing the street in Vietnam.  Now that's pretty brave when you have streets like this:

Roaches in Asia just don't give a ****

Jeez, $100,000 suit?  That's way too much.

Massive cockroaches are a fact of life here (as well as the tiny ones).  I've got a 2 year old daughter who has occasionally been woken up at night by the crawling on her ( the roaches are on average 5 cm or 2 inches long ) and come from the sewers and garbage so can carry disease ( interestingly enough this varity of the blighters are known as "American Cockroaches" ! )

Anyway ive been investigating non toxic ways to eliminate them as i dont want to leave poison around for the toddler to find.

Some wacky ideas out there, ranging from heating your entire house to over 50c ( extreme weather kills them ) to leaving "treats" infused with plaster of paris next to a water source.  They eat the plaster of paris and drink water and basically harder from the inside out...

My favourite though is this meal deal and the method of departure...

Make a non-toxic roach bait and set it out in roach infested areas:

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening or bacon drippings
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup flour
8 ounces baking soda

Combine sugar and shortening. Add onion, flour, and baking soda. Mix in just enough water to make a dough-like consistency. Put small balls in plastic sandwich bags (other alternatives: spread some on margarine tub lids, or put in a lidded plastic container with small roach-sized holes cut in the bottom of the sides for the roaches to use to get in and out but that will keep pets out) and place in roach-infested areas. The bait creates gas in the roach when eaten. Because roaches can't belch, their digestive tracts explode.

sounds messy...
