Some that I'm considering this year are Command Ops, Commander Europe at War, Decisive Campaigns, The Operational Art of War III, and Panzer Command Ostfront,

Don't believe so, I think they said it "should" be back online in January 2012.  Horrible time of year for their provider to choose to mess around with the paypal sysem!!!

As for matrix games for me, only one I purchased is DW: Legends.  Already had most of the games I wanted from them before.

Unfortunately not.  As Grim.Reaper said, Plimus f***ed up and chose just about the worst time of year to monkey around with their Paypal system, thus ensuring a number of Matrix's customers got screwed.

Well I'm one. Had a few I was going to pick up but no Paypal buggers it for me. I'll have to stick to Steam and GG.

Why is Paypal such a critical option for some? What's wrong with using a credit card or debit card?

Paypal makes is so much easier to get your money back if you get screwed over. If the vendor can't provide the proper paperwork they refund your money and the vendor gets screwed.

I disagree. Once upon a time someone got my paypal password and racked up $300 of online game time in Europe, and since my paypal account was "Confirmed", that meant the money came directly out of my checking account. In the end, paypal did refund my $300, but they wouldn't refund it until they had "completed their investigation". Back when this happened, I didn't have a spare $300 that I could live without.

Ever since that happened, I've never used Paypal and always use a credit card. You can always contend a purchase with a credit card, too.

For my part, I don't have credit cards & I fund most of my gaming hobby via eBay sales and holiday appartment letting which is generally paid via Paypal. Also, Paypals currency conversion is cheaper than my banks'.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me with regards to PayPal.  Prior my incident, I'd only used PayPal for an occassional online purchse and only had my credit card confirmed with them.  But when this happened, I was using eBay alot to sell off some guitars, and had linked to my bank account.  Then it got hacked.  In just a few hours, (overnight) the theif made off with over $900 in online purchases.  My checking account quickly drained, and my bank auto-transferred savings into checking to cover the ovarages, charging overdraft fees with every transaction once my checking account funds were gone.  Then it got worse.  PayPal was sympathetic, and in the end everything got fixed, but I can't tell you what a pain that was on my end to have to disallow the transactions, signed and notarized letters, and then getting those fees waived and all my accounts back to where they were before the hack occurred.  Needless to say, I removed the linkage from my bank on my PayPal account, and when my credit card saved with them expired, I did not tell them the new expiration date.  So if anyone hacks my PayPal account again, they won't be able to buy anything.  I guess if I came across anything I really wanted to get, and PayPal was the only way to make the purchse, I'd go somewhere else to get it or just opt out.  I won't use PayPal again for anything.

Guess I'll have to add Hannibal to my list of possible purchases. I've played the demo and liked it. I still have trouble seeing how it has longevity as a game with what seem like limitations of map and armies. But so many people like it, yet again I must be missing something.

I'll be getting Unity of Command when it's a bigger game, DLC or mods or something.

From a reply in another thread, cross-posted here for informational purposes and a question as well:

This is only for games bought through Plimus (their new D/L service) and you may need to contact support to re-activate your download.

If your game was bought through Digital River (pre 2010? better check) you would have had to pay for the extended D/L option and that's

also only good for two years from purchase. No extended D/L option? After 30 Days you are probably SOL, though a whiny email might

help (maybe...) Other than the Paypal hiccup Plimus sounds like a better service so far.

To those who's Paypal was hacked:

Was the source external (IE: computer virus, malware, stolen PW, etc) or was the source of the hack at Paypal itself? How did it happen?

The rest of us might need to know. Thx.
