SHOW OFF YOUR NEW XMAS GAMES!

People who play WOW - I special request some pictures of the BETA that a lot of WOW players are playing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To those that wish to post pictures:

  • Step1: FRAPS - takes the pictures

Get a small program called FRAPS. Its free and can be downloaded at www.fraps.com

Let this program run when windows starts. From that point on in any game you can press your chosen key and a picture will be sent to your fraps folder.

  • Step2: FLICKR - a place to put them for internet linking

Get a flickr account from http://www.flickr.com/ it is also free.

  • Step3: FLICKR uploader - an easier faster way to upload

For those that are really keen go to the tools section of flickr and get the uploader.

This tool will allow you to literally drag pictures from your fraps folder to your upload tool and press "upload". All pictures will go to your flickr account

http://www.flickr.com/tools/

  • Step 3.5: In the FLICKR webpage - make your picture larger by right clicking on it

In flickr click on the picture you want to post over at the wargamer. Right click over the picture once it loads and click on large.

After you have made the picture LARGE by right clicking on the pic you are viewing and choosing large. Right click on the picture again and go to properties.

Then is the direct link you need.

  • Step 4: In a new reply in the WARGAMER forums post your pictures

Thats it just press the tree button while posting at the wargamer and paste links from your flickr page.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have not had too much time.

I am feeling kind of guilty that I have not replied to the latest round of CMBN PBEM for a week or so either.... I really have to find a way to make CMBN PBEM turns more like five minutes.

This is like watching grass grow in the opening stages

Managed to get some RO2 in to see if I could get their XMAS achievement which gives you a steam gift or some such. Nothing so far.

The sales allowed me to get a few games that I just wanted to have a quick play around with really. Train Simulator 2012 was surprisingly fun. Very relaxing.

In the shot below I am about to back up yet again to hook more rolling stock to my engine. I have to flick the switches to change to the track siding I want to get to.

If you are not carefull you will derail the train fairly spectacularly.

What is nice is that the environment seems to be alive... traffic on the roads and other nice touches. I cannot wait to get a chance to finish hooking the train up (I saved it after the 5th siding of rolling stock was coupled)

and taking it for a run.

All I need now is one of those fandangled armoured flak trains

F1 is good fun but really kind of impossible without a steering wheel. I am not really a car racing nut and so probably would not spend on a steering wheel.

A little company of heroes. Still a great game when you want to bash around quickly with some nice ww2 models. Its an actyon moovie arnie.

Rail Simulator (or whatever it's called now) is a bargain at that price.  It's a fun, reasonably relaxing game and quite atmospheric.

Watcha got there, Stoph?

I just picked up CM:BN, against my better judgment. I have a feeling I'm going to find it

way too fiddly for my liking. The camera view is driving me crazy. It's too fast to pan

and I can't figure out how to slow it down. Looks like I'll have to peruse the BF forums...

Sorry about the crappy picture.

I updated the last couple of instructions... hope that makes it clearer.

Staggerwing do you pause while you play in real time to give orders?

I play WEGO, not real-time. I'm still trying to get used to the differences between CM2 and the original CMAK (which is the one I played most)

as well as how CM2 compares to PC

stfront. I haven't played either in a while but I may go back to them as well. As far as the camera goes,

I'm guessing there's a config file somewhere to edit for pan speed since there is no menu option for it.

Winter 1941-1942, Panzer IV's of the 1st Panzer Division drive past their latest victims.

Modified Panzer Command: Ostfront (initial core and presets changed, the Soviets have only tanks, which makes the game much more challenging as I'm facing numerous T-34's and KV-1's with just Panzer IIIH's and Panzer IVF1's).

I think I have my problems nailed down.

1) When I Right click, there is no "Large" option.

2) On the Properties screen, it tells me my picture size is 240x180 with no way to change it.

I can change the dimensions in the Wargamer upload, but it borks the resolution.  Any suggestions?

Original 240x180 image.

I changed this to 800x600  when I uploaded it.

Playing the Lord of the Rings: The Last Days Mod for Mount & Blade.  I'm a member of Rohan and here are a couple of shots from my latest quest.

Had to take a message to West Osgiliath which is besieged  on the East.

Looking to the East, you can see the fires Mordor in the background.  War has not started yet.

Stopped by Minas Tirith

stophro all I can think of that you may be doing wrong is:

a) not clicking on the thumbnail of your picture and waiting for it to load

b) not waiting for your picture to load fully before right clicking on it. the large option will not appear until the page finishes loading.

That looks good but it also looks very empty of population. What is mount and blades population limit in a battle?

I used to have 200-300 man limit on my old computer. Should be possible to get 500 or was it 1000? Hmmm... Anyway lag will increase as you add units but if i recall correctly forrests was usually the worst offender for me.

Oh yeah, there's a nifty little tool called battlesizer that let's you easily adjust battle limits.

Wow... a 1000 person battle in M&B would be something to behold.

300 is standard in M&B IIRC, but you can use a utility called Battle Size Limiter to up the size of the amount of soldiers on a battlemap. Expect serious lag issues though.

Staggerwing; use the left and right mousebuttons to pan and scroll the map. Works much better than using keyboard commands.

If you don't recognize these screenshots, then you have not played the best game ever created for the personal computer!

Yes, I said that.  Jarhead, I'm looking at you.

Winterhold, finally.
