Status : Offline | What are you talking about? They aren't dropping Windows 7 and Vista and making everyone move on. If anything, Win 8 is more related to MS chasing the mobile market.

Status : Offline | They also have released a newer iteration of their OS every couple years since the 90s. Win8 being released this year should surprise no one who has owned a computer in the past.

Windows 7 works just fine.

If you don't mind having to reorganize your folder settings all the time. Win 7 is a great improvement over Vista but I hate the folder settings quirk and also no PDF thumbnails in 64-bit. Just two minor gripes but the folder one is especially tedious.
Apart from that, Windows 7 is very good.

Which in effect is saying just fine, and better than the alternatives.
The other alternate OS available have their place for certain needs and users, and they excel in some situations. But for the generalist, I don't think any of them quite make the grade in comparison as yet; though the once wide gap is narrowing considerably.
