Status : Offline | My brief play with the first tutorial, has it set to counters and 2d camera mode. I have no idea why when resolving the dice throws it wanted to take an image from my web cam. My first attack, and I'm confronted with a picture of my slack jawed self staring back in amazement! I soon set that to never do it again. Randomising through a web cam image is something I've never seen in a game before.
Whilst some people may enjoy 3d fully rotateable board and sprites - I think it plays best top down, with the counters. I like the debriefing after the battle and the map and nato symbols replay you can run through (and presumably capture to Youtube). It even saves the game/replay to your account on Slitherine's servers I think.
Impressive stuff.

I never used it as I never had a webcam. I got the impression it was to give that "boardgame" feel for the boardgame. It allows you to point the webcam at a recepticle where you can through your dice and the game reads the image (in case you didn't get it's use)
Not a feature I would use and I don't know how often if at all it will be used, but a nice touch thinking about boardgamers I thought. That along with adding non persistant APs, chits and top down view shows Eric cared about what the boardgamers would think of this game

Too bad I'm travelling. Won't be able to try this out until the weekend.

For that you would need actual friends. That puts me out of luck.

Remember, it's really just the dice that are being captured by the webcam. The feature is disabled in multiplayer since the image is not transmitted and it's be too easy to cheat.

Status : Offline | I have had it now for a few days and i really like it.
It is pretty and it plays nice other commitments have kept
me from getting too in depth but it is always fun to have a new game
that does what it is supposed to. Like a lot of folks here i lurk around
over at Matrix too. It never ceases to amaze me how people who freely
admit to buying and playing only a few games (which they play to death)
-and as a result contribute only a few bux to Matrix - feel free to moan and
complain about all they things they want or don't want in the new game and
all the things they demand be dropped changed or added or whatever.
I know that some other places just tell these people to shove off but there
are frequent and usually sensible responses from the company for individuals
who gave them the equivalent of 3 bucks two years ago and demand to be heard.
Sorry about that I got carried away with myself.
Cheers

The board game plays pretty well solitaire....

I created a Facebook group for the game, it's open to anyone and a great place to find an opponent for online matches.

What is the repeat playability for this title?
Is there sufficient randomization to make a purchase decision?

I don't think there is much in the way of randomization. The way I approach it is to play a scenario until I beat it, then I move onto the next one. Some people enjoy trying different strategies. If you enjoy multiplayer it would add more life into the product. Since there is an editor we may eventually see user created scenarios for more content. It's a good game if you like this genre.
