Cpt Hamm, the commander of the 17th SS Pz Bn, poured over his map in his command vehicle. Traveling with his 2nd Pz Co, Hamm was staying close to the front during the initial phase of the operation. His orders stated that he was to clear and secure the north/south roads in his area thus securing the left flank of the 3rd SS Pz Corps advance east. Along with his own Pz Bn, he had elements of the 22nd SS Pz, the 13th SS Mot Bn, the 17th SS Recce, and the 17th SS Mot Art in support.

His main objective centered on the village of Buk which sat on a hilltop that domminated the road network in the area. He needed to secure the woods and small hamlet to the south of the village and the hill to the west as the rest of his forces assembled for the main attack on Buk. The 17th Recce would screen the far right flank to alert him to any enemy forces approaching from the east.

Not a mod.  Just using all the available view levels and adding the graphics using basic MS Paint.

Cpt Hamm took a moment to take in the last 30 minutes or so.  His 1st Pz Co was in position NNW of Buk awaiting the arrival of another Co of panzers from the 22nd SS. He planned on positioniing this unit to his south along the base of the hill below the village, effectively bottling up the enemy in Buk.  His 2nd Pz Co was still on the march and at least 15 minutes away from his current location.

Immelmann's 13th SS Mot was preparing to clear the woods south of Buk as Hamm's 3rd Pz Co took over the infantry's positions to support their operation.

To the east,  Reiter's Recce Co was doing an excellent job of giving him intel on enemy movements coming from that direction and spotting for the artillery.

Hamm got on the radio and started issuing updated orders to his Co Cdr's. The most important was to his 3rd Co. who was ordered to clear the area east of Buk and block/destroy any enemy units approaching out of the woods.  He placed its commander on the same radio freq as Reiter to get his spot reports as he transmitted them.

Thank You Gabeeq!  There are times I just have to go back to the classics (this is as close to PanzerBlitz as it ever got on the computer IMHO)

Cpt Hamm sat in his tent taking a few moments to relax and go over the lessons learned from the battle 3 days ago.   His Bn had performed excellently to the extent that the Division awarded them with the War Merit Cross, 1st Class.  The men appreciated the recognition but the ceremony honoring lost comrades still stung.  It was especially troublesome to Hamm.  Loses,  he realized were inevitable, but to lose 2 Pz's at the end of the fight was unexceptable.  Hamm kept going over the same notes...

1...He did not see or engage any RUSSIAN ARMOR,

2...Allthough his Pz's defeated the Russian Infantry,  they never acted as though they were defeated.

3...Russian AT guns had penetrated his Pz's frontal armor.

But the one thing that stood out was the fanatasism that the enemy displayed.

His Cdr's had done well in resupplying,  repairing, and maintaning their units.  Two replacement Pz's were brought foward,  he ordered one to each of the Plt's that had incurred loses.  He got up and walked around the assembly area,  talked to the men,  and felt better as he saw that even with the loses their spirits were high. 

Hamm's 1st Obj would be to secure Obj's 65A and 65B.... Hill 80.5,  that dominated the area.  The Infantry and Engineers would transport to a dismount point,  then,  based upon whether or not they met any resistance,  sweep across the summit and secure the woods on the left flank to the woods down the hill that borderd the left flank of Obj 145.  The Pz's would approach the ridgeline running ESE off of Hill 80.5, deploy online,  and advance over the ridge until they could see Obj 145 and Obj 60B and await further orders.  His Bn's mission was to destroy any enemy remnants encountered.  One thing Hamm wasn't going to do was enter the small city of Rytel with any of his forces if possible.
