Team Daidelos is a good axample of a group that learned a lesson from setting dates for the free IL2 patches, and hasn't made that mistake since. As it was, things were fairly complete at launch, but it's hard to catch everything

For $20, it's hard to feel bad about spending it on a game that works as advertised. Just needs some more features (save game and mission editor) to be a real winner, again IMO. I was honestly expecting to hear more negative comments then I did. I really thought that the hard core crowd would end up thumbing their nose all of about a month ago. Feedback went in, results came back out, and many of the little things (radar range on sensor screen, etc.) were added that make life a touch easier.

AND....Jan has announced that a mission editor will be available soon at NO charge to owners of NWAC. Woot!!!

Given that some scenarios can last several hours, not being able to save is an unreasonable impediment.

Once this gets addressed, and that free mission editor is put out, I'll probably grab it.

Has the developer stated a save function will indeed be added?

No, not publicly. I know he reads the forums, and the rabid type folks over there are very adament about getting one added. I have no doubt personally that this will happen at some point. I am more stoked about the mission editor then anything else. People are already talking about a Cold War mod too!!!! That, that would make me a happy man right there!

I am scared of using active sonar on subs, so when I do, "One Ping Only" comes to mind every time.

It's a good game, but I won't be playing it much until there is an editor and a save function.
The lack of a save seems kind of odd. It's a pretty detailed game with a 1:1 speed enabled so
some scenarios -- the more interesting ones -- are going to take a while to play.

We know what you're thinking. “This game you released of tactical, modern-day Naval combat is cool, but it needs more Game of Thrones-themed missions.” Well, worry no more! Come June 4th we're releasing a free, high-power mission editor for Naval War.
Here are just a few of the features Turbo Tape will be gifting you with: • Access to all game units, as well as their grouping, waypoints, flight deck configuration and weapon loads • Select victory conditions, mission preview image and more • Hosting of multiplayer games using any custom mission • Steam Workshop integration for simple sharing and downloading of any community created mission

It was playable from day one.
ANW is completely unplayable unless you're willing to put up with the world's worst UI.

If it doesn't happen to you, that's great. Unfortunately, there's a heckuva lot of us who cannot play this game due to this problem.
