We're curious on what the community thinks about the forum in its current state, and interested in your ideas about forum organization, content, rules, etc...

These are things that Administration can address immediately before the programmer arrives.

Let us look to the horizon for better things to come and work together on improving the forum, one step at a time--starting here.

Unfortunately, bots are a software related issue.

You needn't take the word "bot" too literally.

I've noticed a fair few regulars seem to have dissappeared recently. Though I've no idea where nor why. So new blood needs to be searched out somehow. Sadly I've no idea how to attarct new members or even get the old members posting here again. Many names seem to have vanished. What we all must do is make sure Wargamer is welcoming as possible to new members and I feel thats everyones responsibility.

I definately agree. And anyone not welcoming new members, or scaring current members away, is not welcome.

Though I've no right to ask due to me being a newbie I am avialable to mod if you ever need a new one.

Can you move the CCombat and SPWAW sub-fora somewhere else?

I show up in Gen Game discussion and only want to see what's new.  Instead, you've got all those Announcements, Stickies, and (now) CC/SPWAW sub-fora taking up half the page thereby forcing me to always scroll down when I just want to take a peek.

Why not move them under their publishers i.e. Matrix?

Before LongBlade left, the same situation was developing with stickies/announcements/sub-fora cluttering up 1/2 the page.  I think it is going that way, again.

I am going to ressurect this thread to mention what's been bothering me about forum: it is too cluttered.

Considering the amount of present traffic, would not it make sense to have much LESS subforums?

for example, why don't just have one "Games" forum, and perhaps encourage the thread starters to mark their topics as "[board]" "[console]" "[notawargame]" or something like that.

Would be easier to draw people into conversations, I would think.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi Tamas, we are looking into getting rid of unused or unecessary portions of the forums in the near future, as well as an update. 

Combining everything into one "Games" section might be done, it'd be great to see if we can put in an drop-down option on thread creation  posts to have autotags such as the ones you suggested.
