I was going to post that this morning. But I decided not to, but glad someone did. I read the reddit thread about the game, I didn't know that Civ II had global weather events like ice caps melting, etc. I've never seen it in III, IV or even V.
A 10 year game of Civ II, I can see that with some guys here with WITE or WITP, but Civ II?

Status : Offline | I was reading that this morning as well! I can't believe the guy stuck it out for so long, especially if its on the same PC. Does Civ II have save files people can transfer? I can only imagine if this guy got his HDD wiped in a storm or something.

..and used for free advertising of Civ 5. 
I don't see why anyone would be surprised at the eons-long war and blasted wasteland the earth had become - technological progress abruptly ended long long ago (pretty much all progress really) and the very limited resouces in Civ games were continually reduced in nuke-fests.

Status : Offline | What's interesting about this thread/story is it raises the question of what conditions actually create a "stalemate" in a game. I would guess that if you strictly broke down the production, population, and resource totals for the surviving factions, that there would be a numerical imbalance somewhere that could be exploited, but is overlooked somewhere.
