The renowned Blitz Wargame club which has a strong community and one of the longest running wargame Websites on the Internet now has a facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/TheBlitz.org). The Blitz is the place to be if your looking for PBEM games for many well known wargames. They have a fair number of leagues all run in a relaxed and friendly manner. Many Vets are willing to teach newbies aswell.

I'm interested but when I checked it out a year or so ago it was pretty intimidating and complex. I couldn't navigate the boards well, the ladder system seemed not very friendly and super-competitive, and the question(s) I asked on forums weren't answered. It was  a very off-putting experience. I'm not interested in an e-sport, merely friendly(!) games. I just want to relax not devote my life to competing with some guy who wants to be tops in the world at some particular game. Is that possible on theblitz?

Hi jjdenver,

I am sorry your initial contact was less than it should have been. Please return to the club and contact me personally (Ashcloud), I will assist you with whatever you need. What games do you play?

I can assure you that there are many players that are just there to have fun and find opponents (some don't bother about ladder standings at all) - I am still in the process of being taught how to play by a veteran who only reported victories against me after I beat him for the first time (he reported draws despite how it would effect his ladder score and playing record).

As for the website, it can be a little difficult when you first start but that is only because of the depth of content and features available - I am ready to help with whatever you need and many other members and club officers are also there to assist (if you do not get response to anything you need then just contact the officer who moderates the forum of the game you are playing - you can email him or private message him within the website system - or contact me).

Hope to see you there...

Regards,

Ashcloud

Hi,  I tried to PM you there as ashcloud but the site tells me that your userid does not exist.

Here's what I tried to PM.....

"Hi,

I'm contacting you as you mentioned on wargamer.com to try to get going on this web site.

The games I'm interested in PBEM'ing are probably the Tiller pz campaign or total war in europe series. I'm pretty inexperienced in both so more than anything i just want to get a game or 2 under my belt of them. If you are an experienced player i'm sure you could easily trounce me in either game as I don't know the mechanics very well but I've got a lot of experience in operational level wargames in general. But of course I know that PBEM'ing a series/system well depends on really understanding the underlying mechanics in a way that only long experience can bring.

So, what do I do first to get a game going? I've no idea which scenarios/games/rulesets are popular. Here is a partial list of what I own:

Moscow 41

Stalingrad 42

Normandy 44

Kharkov 42

War on the Southern Front

The First Blitxkrieg

North German Plain 85

Danube Front 85

Middle East 67

Cheers

jj  "

You can feel free to PM me as I have an account there with the same username - jjdenver
