I've been a member here since 2006 and a moderator for the last two years. It has been my pleasure and honor to have been a part of this board; what with all of the vibrant discussions, opinions, and witty insults that we see here each day, The Wargamer has been a "home away from home" for me. While I will be remaining as a member/contributor and writer when time permits, I am resigning my moderator position effective Wednesday. Everyone's least favorite game, "Real Life", is keeping me occupied to the point that I am no longer able to give my duties here the attention that they...and you...deserve. Many of you know that I am back in school, having been displaced in this....challenging...economy two years ago. It's been a mixed blessing, as I am truly enthused to be going into a new field which holds great interest for me. But between finishing up my new degree then reentering the job market at 52, eh.....something had to give, friends.

I will always value the Wargamer community; for me, it's always been more about the people here than the games. I'm not retiring my biker jacket just yet, but rather removing the Deputy badge. You all have my thanks for making me feel welcome here and in making the Wargamer the site that it is. I'll be seeing you around.

We'll all miss your leadership qualities and influences but will still have you kick around on the posts. I myself have had to deal with re-entering the work force at age 57 and it's not fun but can be survived. Young people today are all scared to death of us old farts as they think we're all Vietnam Vets and therefore 3/4 crazy. Scare the hell-out-of-them if you have to. Let us know how you're doing and don't give-up that biker jacket for anything.

Chris,

Thank you for serving. I wish you the best in your other commitments. I'm sure the community will be thankful that you'll still be a presence on the "writer front." As you head back to school and into the job market, don't forget to take a breather now and again.

Still waiting for that chance to execute a double-envelopment against you.

Good luck on the new career. Been there and still recovering. I still find time to game-and have been working on thewildwildestwest.com so drop in from time to time, but the economic crunch has impacted many of us. Good Luck

Steelie, I salute you. I'm standing on my desk ala Dead Poets Society. Much luck and excellence in your classes and that dreaded "Real Life" game we all hate!

Well Steelgrave I am glad you will still be among us.

Thank you for fair warnings and book recommendations and I enjoyed your review

the second last Men of War so much that I bought it.

Good luck in your new endeavours ...I am older than you and still young and immature.

cheers

Sorry to see you leave the mod team Steelie.  Your support, wisdom and fierce loyalty will be sorely missed.

It's the toughest job market since the Great Depression. It took me years to finally find a good job again. But it will come. Keep plowing forward, getting back up again, and look forward to the good times ahead.

Steelgrave,

Thank you for your service. Here of course. And while I'm at it, elsewhere, and elsewhen!
